A Few Fab Words With Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Winner Justin Giunta of Subversive Jewelry

You may recall we announced the winners of this year's Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation. And wait, it gets better. We were able to pick the brain of one winner, Justin Giunta of Subversive Jewelry. You may recognize his name and off-kilter designs from the pages of Vogue, W and NYLON, to name a few. This Pittsburgh native has dabbled in painting, fashion, industrial design, but has (sort of) settled on jewelry design. He now lives and works in New York City. I'm sure we'll only see more of Justin and Subversive, in the meantime, a few Fab words . . .

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Everywhere. I am perpetually inspired by Art History and Contemporary Design.

What's been the biggest challenge for you?

Balancing all the girls who want to be my dates for the Balls! Of course.

A divergence from the norm, lots of embroidered chains and jewels.

It is truly an honor to be recognized by the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation in the Accessories category. My professional platform has always been to site that accessories are as influential in the industry as clothing. The introduction of this award category is a testament to this, and I am thrilled to have received it.

Fab Flash: 2008 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Winners Announced

Six women's designers have been named Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation winners, joining an illustrious group of past honorees which includes Zac Posen, Proenza Schouler, and Derek Lam. The new recipients, who are each given a $25,000 grant to help showcase their Fall 2008 collections at New York Fashion Week in February, are Alexander Wang, Elise Overland, Lyell by Emma Fletcher, Reyes by José Ramón Reyes, and Wayne by Wayne D. Lee in the women's design category, as well as Subversive Jewelry by Justin Giunta in the accessories design category. Congratulations to all, and I look forward to seeing what the grant helps produce!

On Our Radar: Subversive Jewelry For Target

Subversive's jewelry designer Justin Guinta, who was recently named best accessories designer by Ecco Domani's Fashion Foundation, is bringing his "more is more" baroque philosophy to the masses. Subversive For Target, much like Dominique Cohen For Target, features knockout necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. The collection, which ranges from $15 to $60, will hit stores March 23 and stay through July 20. Me and my neck are SO excited!

As expected, the 2009 CFDA awards ceremony brought out a bevy of dazzling models, designers, and celebrities - make sure to vote on our love it or hate it polls! While most came to party, others eagerly awaited the announcement of this year's winners. Let's see who took home the cake . . .

I love it, you love it, we all love Target. This year, we were blessed with a tremendous amount of Target collaborations from some of our favorite designers such as Jovovich-Hawk, Richard Chai, Erickson Beamon, Sigerson Morrison, and Alexander McQueen. Last night in New York City, the who's who of the fashion community gathered for the announcement of the 2008 CFDA Fashion Awards nominations.

Akin to the fashion Oscars, the actual 2008 CFDA Fashion Awards ceremony will take place at the New York Public Library on June 2, and the nominated designers for the top awards will be judged on both their Spring and Fall 2008 collections.
