Gear Review: Adidas Adizero Rush Shoe

If you're in the market for a minimalist running shoe, you may want to check out the new Adizero Rush running shoe from Adidas ($100). Each shoe clocks in at only 6.2 ounces but doesn't skimp on support. I recently tested a pair during my three-to-four-mile runs; here's what I thought of the line.

I'm a sucker for a minimalist shoe, but even I was surprised at just how lightweight the Adizero Rush felt. The largely mesh construction makes these shoes extra breathable, while the thinner soles and insoles make for a running-on-air feel. I felt connected with the road or treadmill with every step but without feeling like I was running without any support. The "sprint frame" construction of the soles supposedly offers support without the bulk, and I have to agree - as an overpronator, I always felt like I was getting the stability I needed while I ran. The shape of the shoe front also felt comfortable during my runs - having enough room to move my toes when I run has been key.

A little green goes a long way. While the chilly weather and lack of sunshine is bound to affect your mood, you'll be feeling recharged after you head to a farmers market, in all of its colorful Winter splendor. As I've said to myself: a little green goes a long way amid all the gray.
Try out new fruits and veggies. Even if the farmers market doesn't have what I'm looking for, it always proves to be a great experience: you're forced to think outside your typical box and pull for fruits and vegetables you might not have been exposed to before. Really, every day should be Earth Day, which is why we're so impressed when we find designers who aren't just doing Eco capsule collections, but they incorporate sustainability and eco-friendly practices into every aspect of their business. Enter Sandra Canselier, owner of Coclico, a contemporary brand and NYC-based boutique.

With an in-depth understanding of how shoes are made thanks to growing up in her family's shoe business in France, Sandra looked at the entire process to see how she could make shoemaking more sustainable. Elements of those efforts include olive-pit cushioned soles, (not-so-coincidentally, the shoes are made in Spain), and lead and nickel-free metals. She also considers tanning practices, and wage and factory conditions when she has her shoes produced. It's a way of thinking that more brands and designers should adopt when producing merchandise.
