Diane Kruger Bow Tied and Suspendered: Love It or Hate It?

One time, I tried wearing a bow tie and suspenders and ended up looking more like a waiter than a fashionista. Boo. At the Inglourious Basterds premiere in Australia, Diane Kruger stepped out wearing a Chanel ensemble, consisting of a sleeveless white shirt, dotted bow-tie, black suspenders, and black tapered trousers. I'm semienvious she has the confidence to wear not one but two men's pieces on the red carpet. No matter what Diane is wearing up top, she always wears feminine footwear, this time Christian Louboutin Mary Janes. Do you approve of this androgyny, or is it too literal for your taste?

Avril Lavigne's Abbey Dawn collection for Kohl's has hit stores, and it's already on sale. Hmmm. Take this Abbey Dawn Suspenders Tee ($17, originally $24). If you're too lazy to put on the real thing, this tee is for you. The polka dots are a cute girly touch and I can totally see Avril wearing this. But the real question is, would you?

The cut off short has gotten a mini makeover. Thanks to these Elizabeth and James Suspender Cut Off Shorts ($275), we can stand out from the rest of the cut off shorts-wearing population. But I must ask the burning question: Why spend this much when you can just clip some of your dad's suspenders on to some good old jean shorts? Could you pull it off? Or rather, would you want to?

4 Reasons to Try TRX Suspension Training

It may have been developed for the Navy SEALs, but you don't have to be in secret-weapon shape to work out with TRX. The concept of the TRX suspension training is pretty basic: you use two cables on your feet or hands to partially suspend your body and use your own body weight as resistance. The muscle groups you work as well as how hard you work them all depend on the positioning of your body on the cables.

To find out more about the benefits of the workout, I spoke with Randy Hetrick, former Navy SEAL and current CEO and founder of TRX, at the unveiling of the newly expanded TRX Training Center in San Francisco, CA. If you've ever wondered about all those odd-looking straps hanging in your gym, read on to find out more about working out with TRX.

It's for anyone: So, who should do TRX? Everyone, Randy says. "People who like yoga and Pilates tend to like TRX because there are some crossovers. But it's also great for runners, cyclists, or anyone who is an endurance athlete and wants to have more strength training." Even reluctant "power lifters" are usually swayed by the workout once they see how effective it can be at building muscle, he says.

Quick Tip: Add Citrus to Winter Bouquets

In many regions of the country, finding a wide variety of beautiful blooms in the Winter months is sometimes challenging. Instead of sticking with the same mix of roses or carnations, fill out your bouquets with a variety of your favorite citrus instead. I particularly love the look of these gorgeous arrangements spotted on The FlowerSchool's blog.

Head to green markets, farmers markets, or Asian groceries to find citrus still on the branch or displaying leaves. Kumquats, pictured in the bottom right photo, are a wonderful addition to bouquets, given their smaller size. Mandarins, satsumas, and blood oranges would also all add drama to a bouquet. In lieu of branches, use bamboo skewers to suspend the oranges within a bouquet, filling in the area around them with fuller flowers that camouflage the skewers. Think ranunculus, roses, or mums - showy blooms that take up a lot of volume.
