I've been waiting for Swatch's big comeback. I remember my brother's in the '80s like it was yesterday . . . and he had a radical orange Swatch guard on it. Way cools. Fab Ad: Swatch Spring/Summer '08

I can never resist a Beatles tribute and that's why this Spring/Summer '08 Swatch ad campaign stood out to me when I was reading the digital version of V magazine. The girlie minidresses and shorts the models are sporting paint quite the fashionable picture. I'll admit that I've never thought of Swatch watches as cool, but these ads are helping to change my view. What is especially smart about these ads is that each watch style is complemented with a story. And in advertising, it's all about building that emotional connection with your customer. If you're an earthy kind of girl, chances are urban safari scene will appeal to you. If glitz and glamour is your thing, the dancers in poufy gowns will be right up your alley, or shall I say, gated community. Do these ads spark your interest?

The Hunger Games Nail Polish Is Confirmed

The controversy is over. After weeks of back and forth about whether the collection would ever see the light of day, fans of The Hunger Games can rest assured that they will be able to cover their digits in the gold of Cinna's eyeliner. The nail polish collection is, once and for all, confirmed. China Glaze will be debuting the official line on March 1, 2012, to coincide with the film's March 23 premiere date. Although shade previews found their way onto the internet earlier this year, you can see the official swatch chart (the colors of which are inspired by the nation of Panem) when you read more.

We're always interested in how liquid eyeliner performs, and recently OnSugar blogger LesleyKat did a really thorough review of Sephora's house brand liquid liner. Check it out:

Sephora Collection Liquid Eyeliner is a great find for any beauty buff. It's on the low end of the price range of eyeliner you'll find on the shelves of a Sephora store. But does it perform? That all depends on what you're looking for in a liner.

Lately a bunch of brands have come out with new formulations and colors of liquid eyeliners. I'm not sure exactly how long Sephora's version has been around, but I don't think they're newbies. When I wear these I get lots of compliments on the colors.

Repurpose Metal Trays as Magnetic Inspiration Boards

Paul Lowe, the creative force behind Sweet Paul magazine, has a darling DIY on his site instructing readers on how to effortlessly turn vintage jewelry into magnets. I'm inspired to pick up some broaches and clip-on earrings the next time I hit the Alameda Flea Market, but what I'm really going to keep an eye out for are pretty magnetic metallic trays, like the one Paul showcased in this photo.

Trays are total workhouses in the home decorating world, and can go from hostess duty to ottoman toppers at a moment's notice. And by investing in a magnetic metal tray or two, you can reserve a few for use as inspiration boards in your bedroom or home office.

For magnetic trays, look for iron, cobalt, nickel, or steel (though stainless steel is generally not magnetic). Or, avoid researching your metal altogether and simply add a coat of metallic paint to the back of your tray. Once you're ready to decorate with your tray, you can either lean it against a wall, or use a tray with cutout handles that provide an easy hanging solution. Choose an eye-catching ribbon or strip of fabric to attach to the tray, and secure it to the wall with a pretty coat hook. Pin your favorite inspiration fabric swatches, magazine pages, or to-do lists to your new inspiration board, and start dreaming!

To get you started, I'm including a few hook options below. Finding the perfect tray, though, is up to you.

Dear Savvy,

I found my dream wedding dress and I'm absolutely ecstatic about it. I ended up spending much more than I anticipated, but I just had to have it - after all, you only get married once! With that said, I'm embarrassed to show my co-workers pictures of my dress because I fear they'll know how expensive it was just by looking at it. I know it's none of their business, but it makes me feel uneasy for some reason. Is there a way for me to avoid their questions about my wedding dress?

It is easy to go over budget, I completely understand, especially when you factor in tax, the veil, fittings, and of course accessories. To give you a little peace of mind, things can look expensive but you can really never know for sure. For all your co-workers know, you got your dress at a sample sale, or it was made for the fit model - two scenarios that would lower the price of your gown significantly. If you just don't want to share, you could always tell your co-workers that you're not showing anyone the dress until the big day, or you could show them a swatch instead of an actual picture. You know the women you work with best so share only what makes your comfortable.
