On Our Radar: Quiksilver's E.P.I.C. Eco-Friendly Initiative

Not only has Quiksilver created some cute eco-friendly clothes, they benefit an environmental initiative. The brand has teamed up with E.P.I.C., Everyday People Initiating Change, to support the nonprofit's Ripple Project. The Ripple Project helps eliminate the problematic lack of access to clean water in impoverished nations.

Quiksilver is becoming a force with its reintroduced women's line and a handbag collection. These products, including tees, dresses, and jackets, are made from eco-conscious materials such as organic cotton, bamboo, tencel, soy, and linen. Quiksilver will donate three percent of all sales of its women’s eco-friendly apparel to E.P.I.C. It should be easy to help support the cause - prices range from $44 to $148. Items can be bought online and in stores. Quite the epic endeavor.

On Our Radar: Gap Launches Limited Edition Artist T-Shirt Collection

Gap will be unveiling a limited edition artist t-shirt collection set to launch in select stores and online May 15th. In celebration of the 2008 Whitney Biennial, Gap has joined forces with top contemporary artists in producing limited edition artist tees. Some artists include Chuck Close, Jeff Koons, Marilyn Minter, and Kiki Smith with t-shirt designs ranging from political messages to colorful abstract confections. I especially like the bright burst on the Glenn Ligon tee. The classically Gap ad campaign was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin - Fab, as usual. Something to look forward to!

Simply Fab: Kelly Ripa Fights For Ovarian Cancer Awareness

Can we give Kelly a round of applause? I don't know if this falls under the celebrity designer category, but it does fall under the fashion for a cause umbrella - even better. Kelly Ripa's design endeavor is all about charity and spreading the word on ovarian cancer.

In an effort to raise money and awareness, Ripa helped design this cute t-shirt where all proceeds will benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Are you down for the cause? This limited edition tee costs $30 and is available at ElectroluxAppliances.com.

Ah, the basic tee, we all live in them and I don't know about you, but I find myself stocking up every year. Below are three of my faves:

Good
Gap Short Sleeved Stretch Tee, $16.50, available here. These are great for when you need to buy about 5 at once.

Better
Petit Bateau Short Sleeved Crew Neck T-Shirt, available for a discounted price of $20.00 at bluefly. I absolutely love these t-shirts, they are so soft and have a great form-fitting cut.

Best
James Perse Short Sleeve Crew, $39.00, available at Shopbop. These stylish tees, are a great splurge, but definitely not something you'd buy in mass quantities. They were, however, a favorite of Jen's in The Break-Up.
