We all know that black dresses are hardly just reserved for funerals anymore - they're wardrobe staples! In The Black Dress ($15), Dr. Valerie Steele, Director and Chief Curator of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (my alma mater!), explores the zeitgeist of the black dress and how they've become timelessly chic.

The tome is filled with pages of iconic black dress images pulled from Chanel's collection, Audrey Hepburn's films, and more, plus quotes on the color black from writers, artists, and fashion personalities. Definitely one to check out - especially if you love your LBDs as much as I do.

Trend Alert: Ice Florals

What's the difference between ice florals and moody florals you ask? They're cooler. While I also like a burst of turquoise or coral during Winter months, sometimes black, white, and gray feel more serious. Emma Roberts' cute Miu Miu dress exhibits ice florals perfectly - with a happy note of yellow. Black tights and patent pumps further cool the complementary ensemb.

Donna Karan, For Infinity

I'm all about getting more bang for your buck. Why not invest in something that can be worn an infinite number of ways? Donna Karan's The Infinity Dress ($895) is one of those pieces you want to have in your closet. Just look below to see the fabulous things it can do. Yes, it's pricey, but when you consider that it can be worn at least 10 ways, it's not so bad. It also comes in red and pink, though black is sleekest. I can't choose a favorite - each one is more stylish than the last. And the jersey fabric means it's super comfortable, too.

Who Wore It Better? Luscious Leather LBD

Can't seem to find the gusto to don a leather dress? Look to Kate Moss and Carine Roitfeld for inspiration. No doubt, the two are working it in their identical long-sleeve leather dresses. Kate Moss added some rockability to the high-neck cut by accessorizing with sexy bare legs, a studded belt, and pointy-toe pumps. In comparison, the French Vogue editor covered her stems with sexy, sheer black tights and tough, suede ankle boots. Notice how Moss tossed her hair up, while Carine kept hers down. Tell me, which leather lovin' lady do you prefer?

2009 American Music Awards: Kelly Clarkson

Joe Perry played it rock 'n roll cool, Adam Lambert worked his slim suit, Ne-Yo looked spiffy in a two-tone blazer and fedora, Pete Wentz did his military thing, and Keith Urban opted for all black. No doubt, they all dressed to impress, but which stylin' male is most Fab?
