A Stroke of Genius: The Simpsons in Bazaar

As you all know by now: I love a fashion surprise. Thank you Harper's Bazaar for conceiving something so brilliantly bizarre as this spread in the August issue with the all-American family soon to be on the silver screen, The Simpsons. Illustrated by The Simpsons layout artist, Julius Preite, these fun-filled pages feature the cast in collections and designers from the Fall RTW collections with a special cameo from my favorite all-time supermodel - guess who?!

My favorite bits include the ladies lounging in sultry Versace, Marge's hats, and the ever-bazaar Viktor & Rolf. What do you think? Brilliant? Bizarre? Or, brilliantly bizarre?

Fab Flash: Jessica Simpson Plays Dress Up

Jessica Simpson is one busy girl. Following the recent announcement of adding an intimates collection to her repertoire, the celebrity designer, in conjunction with G-III Apparel Group Ltd., will be adding dresses to her Jessica Simpson retail brand.

"I'm extremely excited to be expanding into the dress market. I plan on creating beautiful dresses in distinctive fabrics and silhouettes that are reflective of my personal style and offer something special to the marketplace," said Simpson.

Price points for the dresses are still to be determined but are expected to be in line with Simpson's current offerings of handbags, footwear, swimwear, outerwear, eyewear, and jewelry. The first selection of frocks are set for a soft launch in Spring 2009, with a more complete collection available in stores in Fall 2009.

I know bow flats have been around forever, but I recently became smitten with these Prada Stud Bow Flats ($530). What I don't love, however, is the high cost. The soft bow and studs are desirable - the price tag, not so much.

These Jessica Simpson Betrice Stud Bow Flats ($69) are more like it. Sure, they're not Prada, but they're equally black, suede, and have gold studs sprinkled over the soft bows. Plus, the price is just right. Bow-tiful!

Ashlee Simpson's Cropped Chic: Love It or Hate It?

So we're still on the fence about crop tops? Melrose Place maven Ashlee Simpson can maybe help sway. She worked the trend in the most precious way. Her black Carol Malony bra top combined with high-waist Malanrino tuxedo shorts prevents too much tummy reveal. A chic black blazer and pretty heels keep everything tasteful. Black-deco Paolo Costagl earrings add a unique flair, while her little cinnamon-bun 'do is totally now. What do you think of Ashlee's cropped chic?

Sneak Peek! Ashlee Simpson's Collection for Wet Seal

We recently dished that Ashlee Simpson hooked up with Wet Seal to bring us a clothing collection inspired by her own punky pop wardrobe. We have captured a few photos of the collection, set to hit stores on April 22, along with her new album, Bittersweet World.

Judging from the recent news of Ashlee and Pete's engagement, it's no surprise the singer was influenced by love. Who knew Ashlee was such a fan of pink?! The collection is not all about romance, however. You'll also find electric blue skinny jeans, animal-print tops, and rocker tees, all in the affordable price range of $16 to $20.

2008 Swim: Jessica Simpson

Hot, hot, hot - that's all I can say about Jessica Simpson's 2008 Swim collection. And would you expect anything less from the hottie herself?

A bit of print overload - there's something for everyone. From flirty polka dots to nautical stripes to a humble paisley and refreshing geometric print, these suits had personality. As for the cuts, it was a circus of skimpy strings, sexy bandeaus, sporty ruched numbers and some super sexy cut-out one pieces (my personal faves). The fun accessories: cowboy hats, head scarves, tousled curls, and biggie sunnies all added sass; oh, and the signature cowboy boots too. I definitely saw some of all-American Jessica in this collection - maybe she's found her true calling!

Which InStyle Summer Soiree Attendee Is Most Fab?

Jessica Simpson has just signed a deal promising a bigger and better swimwear collection. With the help of bathing suit guru, Red Carter, the duo plan to unveil a zesty line of bikinis and cover-ups ranging from $35 to $120. Not bad. There's something for everyone with styles ranging from sexy animal prints to cute gingham patterns. Her last collection was a bit too all-American for my taste but this one looks more promising boasting modern cuts and designs. Jessica's new and improved collection will launch in December in major department and specialty stores. Are you interested?

If there's one thing Jessica Simpson may know something about when it comes to clothes it's intimates. After all, this blond starlet is fabulously busty. Simpson will be expanding her successful fashion line to include bras, panties, sleepwear, and daywear launching Spring of '09. As Simpson put it, "I like different lingerie for different occasions. I think that's the best thing about it. You can feel sexy or girly depending on your mood. It is the first thing you put on. If you start with something that fits correctly and is comfortable and fashionable, it will only complement your look." She believes lingerie is an important element in a woman's wardrobe. Agreed.

And Simpson isn't forgetting those ugly VPLs; she's also got that covered. That's why she is including stylish shapewear. Now that sounds Fab.

Who Wore It Better? Chanel Pistol Heels

Chanel's pistol heels have made their way onto the feet of a few bold celebrities. The queen of experimentation, Madonna, wore hers back in October with a black Dolce & Gabbana dress. The chiffon fabric of her frock helped downplay the roughness of the heels. Ashlee Simpson also rocked Chanel's pistol heels during a night out in LA. She opted for a more casual approach by wearing a striped tee and black flowy skirt. Both ladies clearly love funky footwear, but who pulled this one off more naturally?
