Sneak Peek! Banana Republic Fall '08 Collection

I know Spring and Summer are on your mind, but switch your mindset for a second because Banana Republic's Fall '08 collection is way desirable. Despite the gloomy weather that accompanies autumn, it's making me look forward to bundling up and layering.

You'll notice this collection is mostly monochrome, with sprinkles of red to surprise the eyes. On the outerwear front, there are lots of greys, extra-long cardigans, cropped pea coats, and slick leather trenches. The trousers are mostly skinny, checkered, and menswear-ish. Fall's frocks come with lots of personality: Prada-inspired lace dress (left), red taffeta sheaths, and sleek LBDs. Tie-front styles and berets are also prevalent for Fall.

Olivia Palermo kicked off Fashion Week right with a styled appearance at last night's QVC runway show. The fashion pro outfitted an eclectic-chic evening ensemble, opting for her standout printed Tibi pants and a gorgeous pair of Manolo Blahnik heels to amp up the glamour. The end of Chuck brought mixed reviews

"I am satisfied with the episode in general, but as a finale not so much. Seems more like a season finale that begs for more. I think the producers left the door open for possible other projects with Chuck. I certainly hope so. Chuck was pretty much the few show I have been watching on NBC these days. Lucky magazine is one of our favorite sources for great shopping tips. We're thrilled to share this fabulous story on getting Hart of Dixie's style from our friends at Lucky!

We started watching Hart of Dixie because of actress, style star and sometimes-rapper Rachel Bilson-as well as the promise of her character's Rag & Bone-filled “New York” wardrobe. But we ended up totally obsessing over Jaime King’s mean girl character Lemon Breeland. She constantly terrorizes short shorts-wearing Bilson, yet we still can’t help but like her-and her Southern Belle wardrobe.

King’s former career as a model probably helps her make the '50s happy housewife look come across as modernly hip, despite the fact that Lemon’s closet seems to only consist of pink flower hair clips, pastel cardigans, floral tea party dresses and flowy tie-front georgette blouses. While wearing the complete Lemon look every day of the week might be a bit much, it would be fun to mix a piece or two into your wardrobe.

Lemon Breeland never met a floral garden party dress she didn't like.

Now that the rainy season is finally upon us in San Francisco, I'm remembering why umbrella stands become so essential this time of year. Since most are located by the front door, I think it's a great way to introduce the style of your home. I've pulled together a roundup of some of the statement umbrella stands I have my eye on, as well as a clever tutorial for turning a stock stand into a customized standout for your home.

Chevron prints are still everywhere, and this Hand Painted Chevron Stripe with Red Interior Umbrella Stand (price upon request, second to the left, bottom) comes in eight different shades of lacquer.

I think rope brings texture and warmth to everything, and this Rope Twist Umbrella Stand ($525, right of chevron stand) is no exception. Instead of just wrapping rope around a traditional cylinder shape, this one has a lasso-like look that makes it sculptural.

Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara continued their worldwide press tour for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo with a photocall in Berlin today. Rooney showed skin in a two-piece Miu Miu outfit while Daniel once again sported his yellow-laced sneakers. The costars were joined by director David Fincher in front of the cameras, just as they have been for their last three stops. Yesterday's Madrid premiere brought another special guest with Daniel and Rachel Weisz's first red carpet. It was the first time Rachel stepped out to support her husband since they tied the knot last June, and the couple looked more than happy to pose side by side.
