Verizon Begins Updating Droids With Android 2.1

After an initial delay, Android 2.1 - the same version of the Android OS running on the Nexus One - is finally available on the Motorola Droid. Though the Nexus One was released months ago, it's taken longer for Android 2.1 features like multi-touch navigation to make it onto the Droid.

Besides multi-touch, new features include live wallpaper and new standard applications like Google Goggles. Verizon began rolling out the update to Droid users at the end of last week, and so far, reviews are mixed. Some phones have seen an increase in operating speeds, while others (especially those running live wallpaper) are experiencing slight delays. Not all Droid users have received the update, which will arrive over the air. Once you're prompted to install the new version, the actual download only takes about a minute!

Update! Geren Ford for Urban Outfitters

The entire first batch of Urban Outfitters' designer collaborations hasn't hit stores yet, but we have a glimpse of Geren Ford's affordable line, HAWKS. Tops, dresses, and shorts are priced between $48 to $128; some resemble pieces from Ford's higher-priced line. I'm looking forward to snatching signature Geren Ford ruffles at Urban Outfitters prices. Two items, a sailor dress and sailor shorts are already available online, with more trickling in any day now.

Update! Nina Garcia's Departure from Elle

I told you I would keep you updated on the Nina Garcia/Elle drama so here it goes.

The latest word is that the magazine has offered Nina a temporary - around six months - contributing editor's role, long enough for her to appear on Season Five of Project Runway. She has yet to accept the offer or comment on the recent ongoings. The show's producer, The Weinstein Co., is currently in talks to bring Nina, Michael Kors, Elle, and other partners back for a sixth season. It remains to be seen if the show would rehire Nina if the magazine is still involved and she is no longer employed there. Interesting stuff, but what I really want to know is where Nina will be headed next?!

It's that time of year again - the iPad 3 rumor mill is working overtime! According to a new report, the iPad 3 could be announced in March alongside the iOS 5.1 update, said to be coming on March 9. Though the iPad 3 is said to be coming with a similar form factor as the iPad 2, it should include a 2048×1536 Retina display and a larger battery.

Heidi Klum caught up with some other members of the Project Runway family, like Kenneth Cole and Molly Sims. Cindy Crawford made the rounds with Roberto Cavalli and took the stage with Elizabeth Hurley to present one of the evening's honors. The event is a traditional kickoff to New York Fashion Week, which officially starts today. A Typography-Inspired Valentine's Day Mantel

Valentine's Day is one of those holidays that just makes me smile, so I thought I'd bring a little of that happy feeling into our home this year with a mantel update. I just adore typography so what better way to show my love.

The "I love you" heart print is from The Love Shop
I received this gorgeous illustrated card as a gift with purchase from Eva Juliet. I usually craft my mister's Valentines so I thought the card would make a cute framed print.
The XO were scores from the Michael's dollar bin.
The February print is part of a leftover letterpress calendar I purchased a couple years back from Orange Beautiful.

Sexism, Stereotypes, and the Super Bowl: Recent Ads That Sexualize Women

Sex sells - especially for Super Bowl ads - and year after year, major companies try to get away with the raciest, steamiest ads possible, often at the expense of women. Cars, food, technology - it doesn't matter what the product is; these ads throw in a hot, skin-baring woman for distraction and buzz. Ahead of the big game tomorrow, let's look back at some of the most scandalous ads in the last few years. And maybe one day we'll see more Super Bowl ads that show women some respect.

Skechers: "Kim Kardashian For Shape-Ups"

Kim teases her trainer by telling him he's "the best she's ever had, but it's not working out," and she prefers her Shape-Up Skechers over him. This 2011 ad is confusing and mismarketed, because it's eye candy for men, yet targeting women. Plus, no woman in her right mind would pass up that smokin' trainer for a pair of sneakers.
