Fabcons: The Traina Three

Samantha, Victoria, Vanessa. There are more Trainas, but these are The Traina Three. All of them, children of novelist Danielle Steel and vintner John Traina, are under the radar but oh so Fab. Many a fashion junkie who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area is secretly obsessed with the elusive sisters. They are socialites, yes, but they aren't camera-loving princesses.

All three work in fashion. Samantha, the brunette who resides in LA, serves as fashion editor of C magazine. Her style is feminine with a cool edge. Victoria, with the bangs, worked at the Lacroix atelier last Summer. She has a fondness for hair play and appreciates texture and eclecticism. Vanessa, the tall one, currently works at Vogue Paris; she is the most model-like, wears lots of Paris black, and has a total nonchalant attitude. With friends like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Lazaro and Jack of Proenza Schouler, the TTT clearly played in the coolest sandbox in town. It's too bad they all fled San Francisco - we could use some of their chic, forward thinking here.

Who Is the Best Dressed Mother/Daughter Combo?

Oh mommy dearest - I once shunned your fashion advice, but now I regularly seek it. As a young lassie, I assumed you knew little about style, but now I realize I learned much of what I know from you. If my endless shopping excursions with mom have helped my personal style and wardrobe, imagine what the splurge-fests for the daughters of Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld (Editor of Vogue Paris), Danielle Steel, and Demi Moore have done for them! It's obvious Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Bee Shaffer (Anna's daughter), Rumer Willis, and the Traina sisters (Danielle's kids) have oodles of expensive closets to choose from . . . but it all comes down to personal style. For me, Carine and Julia stand out because of their effortlessly cool Euro vibe. Who is the best dressed mother/daughter combo to you?

Fab Flash: Prada's Trembled Blossoms

Socialites Victoria and Vanessa Traina, model Agyness Deyn, and celebs like Rose McGowan came out last night for a private party at the Prada flagship store in Manhattan.

The event was an unveiling of the short film Trembled Blossoms, an animated movie that captures the essence of Prada's Spring/Summer 2008 Collection. It's a trippy little video that follows a nude alien in a forest who becomes clothed in head-to-toe Prada as she progresses through the wilderness. Sound confusing? It is, but it's also very beautiful.

Compare & Contrast: The Olsens vs. The Trainas

Can it be that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have some fashion competition? Danielle Steel's daughters, Victoria and Vanessa Traina, are in the same social circles the Olsens are, and they have equally amazing wardrobes to match their jetsetter lifestyle. Basically, the Trainas are taller versions of the Olsens. Everything else - style, attitudes, famous friends - are pretty much the same. Let's compare and contrast . . .

The Olsens: Mary-Kate and Ashley's avant-garde wardrobes are one of the most coveted in the fashion world.

Style: Though very different from one another, both MK and Ashley have a fashion sense that is uniquely their own. MK takes more risks, while Ashley is more clean cut and chic. What they do share is their love for leather, fur, ruffles, turbans, dramatic heels, and all black.

Attitude: When is the last time you saw them smile really big? I can't remember either. The petite sisters are serious but not pompous.

Famous Friends: Among the long list of designer and celeb pals are Jenni Kayne, Selma Blair, Giambattista Valli, Christian Louboutin, Calvin Klein, and of course, the Traina sisters.

Style: Like the Olsens, the Traina sisters don't have much color in their closets. What they do have a lot of are simple and one-of-a-kind party frocks. Victoria's slick style is comparable to Ashley's, and Vanessa's disheveled vibe is similar to MK's.

Attitude: They too rarely smile in public. Instead, they're cordial and reserved.

Famous Friends: Ever the social butterflies, Vanessa and Victoria's social circle includes Jenni Kayne, Nicole Richie, Tom Ford, Rachel Zoe, Brandon Davis, Vanessa Getty, and of course, the Olsens.
