Here I am in the midst of New York Fashion Week. My theme song? You know it! Most people need to listen to mellow music in times of chaos; me, I thrive on my favorite hard rock band of all time, Guns n' Roses. When all else fails, I just put on my boys and let the tough times roll. Here, you see Axl straight off the bus from Indiana (where he is actually from) about to embark on a life of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. And it went down just like that. The original band mates are seen here - Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy, and Stephen - in their metal hair, leather pant, and bad attitude splendor. Let the good times roll . . .

Seriously: leopard print is so much fun. It's one of those things that every gal should have in their closet; I have a sexy little leopard print sporty tank that I haven't sported in a while. Well, it's obviously time to welcome that little tank back to the concrete jungle. But leopards aren't the only things in the jungle. You also have exotic snakes, birds, frogs, flora, fauna and who knows what else lurks in the exotic shadows. If you're like me and freak out at the thought of "exotic" creepy crawly things, here are some items to bring the jungle to you.

New York Fashion Week...Welcome to the Jungle

Rise and shine girls. Today is the first official day of New York Fashion Week, and it's raining. No matter. The fashion show must go on. I have a little tradition of laying out all my invites on my hotel room bed, and every season the collage gets bigger. Yay! I'm pretty stoked about some very coveted invites I got this time around: Oscar de le Renta, Monique Lhuillier, Rodarte and Diane von Fursternberg. But I'm always excited to see some of my faves: Jenni Kayne, Nanette Lepore, Rag & Bone and the list goes on. A Few Fab Words With . . . Lindsay Price

One of the sweetest people I met during New York Fashion Week wasn't an editor or photographer, it was Lindsay Price of Lipstick Jungle (and the original 90210!). We sat down and talked shoes, the second season of the hit show, and what fashion really means - girl had some keen insight into clothes! The second season of the fashion-filled show premieres Sept. 24, and I can't wait to see Lindsay in action.And let me just say: the famous New York Saks shoe department is the ideal place for two girls to meet and chat. We were there to celebrate the designer shoe collaboration in honor of The Wizard of Oz. Rubified slippers by designers like Jimmy Choo, Betsey Johnson, and Moschino were sprinkled around the party and on display all week at the Bryant Park tents. Here's what Lindsay had to say . . .

Welcome to the Saks shoe department! What a great place to meet you in.

Yeah! We actually had our premiere party here, and that was amazing. We shot here too, right along this wall of glass bubbles.

So I see you are wearing Yves Saint Laurent Tribute sandals. I have to ask: Are they comfortable?

They are surprisingly comfortable I have to say. I've been wearing them about an hour, so we'll see.

What shoes caught your eye here?

I would go straight to that section over there (points) - the Louboutins. And I like Roger Vivier, they're beautiful.

I love this Brian Atwood section right here.

Oh yes! We wear a lot of Atwood on the show. Very nice.

And who is your dress by?

This is Prada. (swoon)

So the premiere of the second season of Lipstick Jungle is coming up.

I know, I'm so excited. We're very proud of this season. There's a lot of new cast members. Mary Tyler Moore, playing Brooke's mother, and Rosie Perez, plays my publicist. She's fantastic, so funny. She's a trip - she's so much fun. Carlos Ponce, my new love interest, we have a love triangle with me, him, and Andrew.

Your wardrobe on the show. I mean, you play a fashion designer.

I do, and I have the best wardrobe I think on television. I'll say it!

Has playing a fashion designer made you more interested in fashion?

Definitely. I wasn't aware of how serious fashion was. To me clothes are about serving what you're doing that day. As an actor it helps you take on a new persona. I find it kind of emotional, too - when I want to be something else or feel something different. It can really change someone's perspective and how they carry themselves. I love how the designers reinvent themselves every year.

The Project Runway Season Five Finale Runway Show!

The grand finale of my Fashion Week was the Project Runway finale show. And what a show it was. Before the season five contestants showed their collections, it was a reunion among familiar faces. It's always a joy seeing Runway alumni gather and mingle. The recently booted Blayne and Terri were there - all smiles - and favorites like Jay, Rami, Jillian (wearing a familiar knit sweater from her collection), Chris March, and Jack Mackenroth (who I chatted with at the Jill Stuart show, he is so sweet) all made cameos. Enter Christian Siriano, who had his own Spring show the night before. Then, Michelle Tractenberg, Rachel Zoe, and Harvey Weinstein were chatting about. Quite the spectacle!Anticipation grew once Heidi, Nina, and Michael Kors all came out to welcoming applause. Side note: Are Heidi and Nina both wearing Roland Mouret dresses? They looked great, but I wonder if that was planned. At 9:30 a.m. the lights dimmed and Heidi appeared, microphone in hand. She said some heartfelt words to the people of Bravo and the Magic Elves (the show's producers) - saying goodbye and thanking them for five great seasons. To bring you up to speed, Runway is moving to Lifetime for their sixth season (and that will be interesting in itself).

The guest judge seat remained empty. All week long there had been rumblings about Jennifer Lopez being the guest judge, but it was anticlimactic when Heidi announced that Lopez was unable to due to "a foot injury." Boo. And so, Tim Gunn stepped in at the last minute to serve as guest judge. Don't get me wrong - I adore Gunn - but it was very exciting when Victoria Beckham graced us with her presence last time. Once all was said and done, the first collection, by Jerell, was unveiled . . .

Jerell
Jerell has one of the most lovable personalities, but his collection wasn't so. He came out and thanked his parents, boyfriend, and bestie, and I was really looking forward to his final collection. Bustiers, ruffles, dramatic bodices, and black and gold comprised his aesthetic. There was a regal undertone, as well as a pirate feel, but the taste level just wasn't that high. His two gowns didn't fit so well, and there wasn't a strong point of view. My favorite look was the embellished cardigan over a striped dress with sheer overlay.

Suede
Oh gosh. I really didn't like this collection. It was immature and incohesive, and the Barbie girl color palette was ridiculous. Suede claimed "Suede's going to rock it" but he didn't. He mixed plaid with pastels, ruffles with one shoulder, and shredded and draped pieces; cotton candy fabrics were utterly unsophisticated. I didn't mind the wedding dress, but that was subpar.

Joe
Joe is vanilla. His heart is in the right place, but his talent is hit or miss. Throughout the season, he's had some winners and losers, but his final works, which he claimed were Americana-inspired, were disappointing. He should have taken a more Ralph Lauren elegance take on the theme, and less Harley Davidson rough and tough. Brown leather corsets, patterned jeans, leather pants, and a navy dress with white stars were misses; a super cute paisley print dress, turquoise ornamentation, and a textured red ball gown skirt were hits. But this collection was not consistent enough to win.

Kenley
Fun, quirky and feminine - just like the girl who made it. I like Kenley, although her distinct laugh annoys some, and her Alice in Wonderland take on "her dream wardrobe" was surprisingly versatile. Each piece was unique, and yet the collection melded together wonderfully. There were a few ooh ahh pieces: the black dress with fuchsia print overskirt (pictured above), the dramatic ruffle teal print blouse and black flounce skirt, and the pink and black colorblock bodice with dramatic tulle skirt dress. Her little feathered hats, which she has a penchant for, were a nice touch. This was possibly my personal favorite - full of eclecticism - but things heated up after she showed . . .

Korto
I think Korto has the most interesting point of view, and her collection was beautifully exotic and elegant. However, there were one too many emerald green dresses, I'm just sayin.' Her collection was "inspired by nature and the landscape and clothes of her native country, Africa." She also designed the beaded and colorful jewelry (which I loved). Her color story was rich: emerald green, turquoise, mustard yellow, white, and ecru. Her silhouettes ranged from a slim halter gown and pouf sleeves to flirty cocktail dresses and asymmetrical cuts. The jungle printed banded belt frock was covetable, but a white frilly long dress was confusing. I loved the sometime Oscar de la Renta exoticism, though.

Leanne
Funny how the six collections gradually got better. I think Leanne is going to win. Her collection was as stellar as any of the professional collections from the week. It was conceptual, beautiful, and theatrical. Leanne claimed she "lost a million hours of sleep" over it, and it showed. Sculptural skirts, dresses, and gowns floated down the runway to the beat of a neutral, cool palette. The craftsmanship was expert and you could just feel the adoration in the air. I would wear the ivory off-shoulder top and turquoise petal skirt and the ivory and beige corset mini dress (pictured above) in a heartbeat. And her modern wedding dress blew Suede's off the (project) runway.

Animal Hause

By now, most of you know that in addition to fashion I also love animals. I am, after all, mommy to my Frenchie Annabelle. Imagine taking our favorite animals and pairing them with the industry's hottest models and the world's most sought-after designers. Welcome to the animal hause! I've been noticing many a editorial featuring our furry, and not-so-furry, friends: dogs, monkeys, elephants, cats, cheetahs. Oh, and an eland (a type of antelope) like the one model Behati Prinsloo is battling in April's Harper's Bazaar. Some of these are sexy, some are scary, some serious, and some comical. Welcome to the jungle baby.

It's a Lipstick Jungle Out There!

There's a new fashion-forward clique in TV town and I'm happy to welcome them and their fabulous wardrobes to the neighborhood. Lipstick Jungle, starring Brooke Shields, Kim Raver, and Lindsay Price, showcases much more realistic fashions than its competition, Cashmere Mafia. But don't mistake realism for boring. These ladies love their Jimmy Choo bags, leopard Louboutins, power suits, hip outerwear, and colorful accessories. Best of all? Only a few belts in sight!

In a conference call with reporters recently, executive producer Candace Bushnell and actress Brooke Shields gabbed about the show's fashions.

On the show's wardrobe:
Shields: "It is undeniably a high fashion show. But what I think makes it more accessible is that nothing in it is prohibitive. Nothing in it has a cartoon aspect to it where you couldn’t feasibly think that you could wear that yourself. . . . I think that they look amazing and I think that it’s comfortable on them. But you'll see them before you see the fashion. But then if you take a closer look you’ll realize it is a Louboutin shoe and it is a Chanel jacket, and it is a Dior outfit or a suit."

Bushnell: "I think that the fashion is definitely important in the show. We have a stylist (Amanda Ross), who works for fashion magazines. And I think we’ve tried to keep the clothes real, very elegant."

On Brooke Shields's character's wardrobe:
Shields: "From the character’s standpoint, I don’t think that Wendy was as naturally fashionable. I think her two very obviously fashionable friends have had an effect on her. I think they’ve gone to her closet and they’ve weeded out, and made sure that she couldn’t make any mistakes. And that they sort of helped her along in the fashion world."

On Shields's opinion of the wardrobe
Shields: "I am infatuated with the clothes on the show. I would love to pretend that I really lived like that. It comes very naturally to these characters and I need a bit more help. I think that the minute I sort of don certain costumes, I shouldn’t say, but the wardrobe that Wendy gets to wear, there is a sense of power in it and a sense of strength."
