White is in the air, and beyond. It all started when we were struck by white lightening, and then there were the white accessories, white shades, and just an overall influx of white. So it's no surprise that as the weather heats up, the celebs are looking heavenly in dresses of this hue. The versatility of a LWD is profound: one can either look inappropriately like a 6-year-old or one can look like a sophisticated woman. I would recommend the latter, and stick to styles that are either minimal or retro - to avoid looking like Alice in Wonderland.

As we approach the holidays, I'm on the lookout for original party looks. Eva's wink may not be up to par, but the slick tuxedo-inspired look she wore to the 2010 Pirelli Calendar cocktail reception in London was beyond Fab. She dressed up her slight harem pants with delicate sandals, a draped white top, and a velvet blazer. Feminine details like a black lace peekaboo bra and radiant art deco earrings are suave touches. A jolt of red satin via her clutch is holiday-tastic.

The Look for Less: Vince White Eyelet Empire Dress

Can I please ask why someone would spend so much on such an easily ruinable summer staple like the LWD? In case you haven't heard, white is one of this Spring's essential colors. Now I love white as much as the next fake tanning girl, but it is one of the riskiest colors to wear. I don't think I have ever splurged on something white; I just don't think it's a smart investment. I also have butter fingers and tend to spill, run into and trip about so at the end of the day there is always a stain on me, especially if I'm wearing white (why does that always happen btw?). So there's my rant. While I think this Vince White Eyelet Empire Dress, $320, is way cute, I would never spend this much money on it. Now if it came in black...

Designer Spotlight: Caroline Hedeya

This is a story about two girls, Caroline and Donna, who were destined to become stylish bosom buddies. Before they met at F.I.T., the two led parallel lives hoping to become fashion designers one day. Shortly after graduating, Caroline and Donna combined their quirky ideas to create Caroline Hedaya, a genesis of Caroline's graceful touches with Donna's architectural aesthetic. For Spring '10, the duo supply us with a girlie gambit of crisp skirts, cropped lace tops, modern vintage frocks, and polka-dot prints made in cream and navy hues. I don't know which I love more: the simple cinched camisole dress or the white cut-out wonder . . .

Here's a fun fact: At the age of 4, Caroline used to get phone calls from her teacher telling her mom that her outfits were too extravagant for school. Luckily, her mother refused to pacify her daughter's eccentric ways - too cute!

Which Marchesa Was Most Fab at the Music Unites Fall Masquerade Gala?

Last week at the Music Unites Fall Masquerade Gala, Kerry Washington and Georgina Chapman wore pretty, poufy frocks from Georgina's coveted Marchesa line. Both dresses were white, but notice how the two styles varied in texture. Kerry's tulle embellishment and streamlined shape gave a more architectural appeal, while Georgina's feathered creation emoted flirty, flapper energy. Both beauties accessorized with sleek black clutches and matching pumps. This one's a toughie: do you prefer the designer or the celebrity?

2010 Spring: Calvin Klein, CK Jeans, and CK Underwear

Clean. Precise. Minimal. Three terms Calvin Klein wants you to use when describing its Spring '10 collection. Staying true to the house's less-is-more aesthetic, Francisco Costa has delivered a line of basics with a sexy utilitarian nature. You'll find organic fabrics and most colors of the rainbow: sand, white, and khaki as staples, canary, melon, poppy, fuchsia, turquoise, and cobalt as accents. Drawstring cargos, denim vests, fitted blazers, parkas, denim judo pants, and shirt dresses are all solid. But one print piece stands out as the cool black sheep: a black-and-white, tie-dye dress that's feminine and bold.

Swimsuits are also part of the Spring family - a two-piece in warm gray and a one piece in solid gray or gray Bengal print. The handbags are equally minimal; hobos, totes, and rounded clutches are smooth and unstructured, with gold and silver hardware. Wooden-stacked heels and flat sandals are au naturel and sporty.

Camilla Belle and Katy Perry's styles couldn't be more different, but clearly the two have a shared love for white, feathery Marchesa. Camilla first wore this gorgeous piece from the Spring '10 line at an event in LA a couple weeks ago. She paired it with strappy black sandals and sparkly jewels. Then Katy sported the same fancy frock onstage at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards in Germany with a pair of sequined pumps. Both look like delicate swans, but who wore Marchesa better?
