I knew creamsicle coats were on the move when style-setter Kate Hudson and fashion newbie Miley Cyrus wore them. It's the dead of Winter folks, so this is the perfect antidote to post-holiday blues. The real beauty is that when gallivanting in a creamsicle coat, you can keep the rest simple and elegant. The only thing Geri Halliwell has to look out for here is dirt, and God made dirt and dirt don't hurt.

Miley Cyrus is growing up fast, and her ensemble on New Year's Eve in NYC reflects it. Billy Ray's daughter shielded herself from the cold in a chic winter white coat with oversized black buttons, a knit cap, black gloves, and black suede boots. My only complaint is that her hat and coat are slightly matchy matchy; to fix, I gave her a plaid one. Keep up the Fab work, Miley!

Compare & Contrast: Wearing a Winter White Coat

White coats are snowballing as the latest outerwear trend. They're bold, cozy, and the best foray into the season without actually having to freeze. That said, there's a right and wrong way to bundle up in them . . . the proof is in these examples of Kate Moss and Eva Longoria.

Kate Moss: Kate knows how to rock every piece of clothing she owns and a bold white coat is no exception.

Coat: Staying true to her street-chic style, she dons a fancy fur-trim coat yet makes it look casual and effortless.

Shoes: Though she's wearing a stark white coat, she knows better than to go matchy matchy with her footwear. Instead, her suede over-the-knee boots give her a rock 'n roll edge.

Accessories: Because her outerwear is loud, Kate kept the accessories to a bare minimum: a simple clutch and no jewels.

Eva Longoria: The actress opted for a long white coat to keep her fully covered.

Coat: Because she's petite, the long coat is overbearing. Still, the slight flare at the bottom and tie-waist belt lend a girly flair.

Shoes: Pairing UGGs with a classy coat took the look from potentially chic to tacky and immature. They make her legs look unnecessarily stumpy.

Accessories: Can you tell Eva loves to pile on the accessories? A white fedora, jumbo black patent bag, and a tassel - it's all too much. Less would have been way more.

I've always thought that Kate wears cold-weather clothing really well, but this is taking it to a highly sophisticated, and dramatic, level. I heart, do you?

Rachel Comey showed us her sophisticated side for Fall '12, streamlining her usual quirk factor with a modern, refreshing twist. "Normally for Fall we dive into print and pattern and color," said Comey. "This time, I pulled all of that out and cleared the air." With that in mind, the designer showcased laser-cut cotton dresses and wool felt tops, digital-print knee-length skirts, pretty prints, and shiny boxy leather tops. Color pops included an oversized bright orange coat and dress and even a heart-print dress doused in hot pink. Comey's shoes, a cult favorite amongst many, included quirky-cool black-and-white cap-toe loafers, flatforms, and chunky ankle boots. To finish, Comey closed out the show with an array of cocktail-appropriate black dresses, ranging from a simple, slinky halter-neck LBD to a shimmering full-skirted version. Rachel McAdams Makes a Good Morning Visit For The Vow

Rachel McAdams made an early visit to Good Morning America's Manhattan studios today. The actress, whose latest film The Vow hits theaters next week, covered up a blue-striped shift with a white coat as she headed to the TV appearance. Later, she changed into a gorgeous jacquard dress by Andrew Gn before returning to her hotel. Rachel and her leading man in the movie, Channing Tatum, have been hot on the promotional trail for weeks. They've made stops in London, Germany, and LA to chat up the romance together. Off screen, Rachel still seems to be going strong with her Midnight in Paris costar Michael Sheen. The couple have already shot a second film together, with Tree of Life director Terrence Malick, though Ben Affleck plays her love interest in the upcoming and as-of-yet untitled project.

Jack Russell Terrier Uggie, canine star of Golden Globe-winning film The Artist, took to the red carpet wearing a bow tie and his dapper tan-and-white fur coat. The film took home three awards, including best comedy or musical, best actor in a comedy or musical, and best original score, but the best performance of the evening went to Uggie's theatrical tricks during arrivals and in the press room, where he achieved hugs and praise from his A-list costars.

This holiday season came and went like the whirlwind it always is, and I sit here in the aftermath realizing that I have plenty of recipes to catch up on. So let's take a mini jaunt down memory lane to Thanksgiving, shall we?

Being the lucky recipient of my family's turkey carcass, I ended up with about 6 quarts of homemade stock, most of which sits in the freezer waiting for a chilly night when turkey noodle soup is a quick solution to the question "What's for dinner?" Unfortunately for the stock but quite happily for the rest of us San Franciscans, warm weather has taken up temporary residence in these parts, so soup has been on the back burner, so to speak. But back in late November when temps were still brisk in the low 50s (here, my East Coast friends may shout whatever expletives come to mind), comfort foods were definitely on the brain.

Purists will say that a pot pie must be just that: a pie complete with buttery, flaky crust on the top and the bottom. I get it (admission: I love Marie Calendar's frozen chicken pot pies dumped on a pile of hot white rice), but (1) who has time to whip up pie dough on a weeknight?, and (2) it's hardly a light meal. So I substituted store-bought puff pastry for the crust and focused on a rich, hearty filling for my turkey pot pie. For the recipe, read on.
