Gossip and Movie Stars Come Out to Honor Top Designers

The lush green background made the dresses stand out at last night's CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund event in NYC, where Alexander Wang took home the prize; check out all the other winners here. Anna Wintour, who may be considering retirement, hosted some of Manhattan's pretty young things at the soiree. Blake Lively and Penn Badgley traveled as a duo as usual, though they never pose together. The dress was a break from the norm for Blake who also showed off some new looks on last night's Gossip Girl Thanksgiving. Skipping TV night along with the Gossip Girl stars were Charlize Theron and Piper Perabo, who looked fantastic in the cool November night - check out love it or hate it polls on all the looks now.

After much anticipation Alexander Wang was named the winner of the 2008 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.

For his grand prize, Wang received $200,000 and a year’s worth of mentoring from some of best designers in the industry. Albertus Q. Swanepoel of Albertus Quartus and Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai of Vena Cava were named this year’s runners-up. Congratulations to all!

Last night, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue, held their fifth annual Fashion Fund extravaganza in New York City. The big winner was Alexander Wang who won $200,000 along with a year of mentoring. The runner-ups were Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai (Vena Cava) and Albertus Q. Swanepoel (Albertus Quartus). Also, the keynote speaker of the evening (and Charlize Theron's date) was none other than John Galliano (Dior). All of the attendees arrived dressed to impress on the red carpet. Out of these eight women, whose outfit do you like best?

Who Wore It Better? Marchesa Red Rosette Dress

This one's a toughie considering both Lake Bell and Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman wore Marchesa's red rosette dress the same exact way. Their red satin shoes and pulled-back hair are the same, but Lake opted for a red snakesin clutch at the What Happens in Vegas UK premiere, while Georgina went with a glittery silver one at the 2008 CFDA Awards. Although Georgina designed the dress, I think Lake has more natural ability to pull off such a funky shoulder detail. Which lady in red do you think wore it better?

Lookie who decided to come out of their bottles and to the CFDA Awards! Vogue Editor at Large André Leon Talley and supermodel Naomi Campbell obviously consulted one another on their wardrobes and the unanimous decision was to channel a genie, harem pants and all! Check out André's velvet fuchsia slippers. Actually, to be more accurate, he looks like a mix between a genie and a chef. On the streets, this duo, especially André, would freak people out, but at a fashion soiree, they're fab-u-lous. Do you agree?

Stars and Designers Mix and Mingle at Their CFDA Dinner Party

After the CFDA Awards red carpet last night the gorgeous group sat down for dinner and the award ceremony at the New York Public Library. There were big smiles all around from Ashley Olsen and Eva Mendes cozying up to Francisco Costa to Eva Longoria giggling with Tom Ford. Victoria Beckham was just excited to kick back and relax after taking the stage to present the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, saying, "I always get so nervous. I'm rubbish, absolutely rubbish at doing things like that. I just glad it's over and done with. I've sung in front of millions of people but when it comes to doing something as simple as talking, I completely go to pieces."
