2008 spawned a tremendous flurry of fabulous Fashion Week shows. Let's see, there were New York Fall and Spring shows, Milan Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, and LA Fashion Week. Oh, and don't forget all of the ravishing Resort and Pre-Fall collections. Some of my faves were Proenza Schouler's Fall line, Alexander Wang's Spring offerings, and Balmain's Spring collection in Paris. All different, all divine. Which were your favorites? Milan Fashion Week, Fall 2008: Fendi

If they told Cashmere Mafia's Mia Mason she must live in Fendi's Fall '08 collection all next autumn season, she'd be over the moon, sun, and stars. That's because this collection was filled with luxurious and fluffy fur coats and wide-belts.

But Kaiser Karl didn't forget about the less flashy customer. For them, he provided lots of dim hues and interesting textures: knits, feathers, wool. Turtleneck dresses, ruffled leather jackets, and heavy knit sweaters were all cinched at the waist with masculine belts. Bug-like cocoon coats peeped their bulgly little heads again . . . but I can forgive and forget because the rest of the collection is spot-on!

Trend Alert: Sleek Center Parts at Milan Fashion Week

You've already seen what the New York and London shows had to offer, so I thought I'd give you the lowdown on the latest hair trends from Milan Fashion Week.

Gucci, Ferragamo, and Blumarine all sported long, loose, and free-flowing hair, but the Etro, Iceberg, Lorenzo Riva, and Thes & Thes by Thes Tzivel runways donned a different and sleek trend. Hair was pulled back and styled with severe center parts. Do you think you'd wear these coifs with your couture?

Dempsey Is Milan's Versace Man

Patrick Dempsey was one lucky man sandwiched between his hot wife and Megan Fox checking out the Versace show at Milan Fashion Week last night. Earlier in the day the woman on his arm was, um, not either of those ladies and instead was Donatella herself. Patrick is the face of the brand these day and a mighty fine one if I do say so myself. Though his dapper black suit is a far better look than the plaid. It may still be months before we get our McDreamy back on TV, but he's certainly not letting himself go in the meantime. Yum.

Milan Fashion Week, Fall 2008: Jil Sander

Get a load of Raf Simmons' funnel necks for Jil Sander. I absolutely love the crispness and the incognito effect they have. It makes me want to flip up the collars of all my coats and jackets for the rest of my life.

Aside from the Fab collar work, Jil Sander remains to be one of the most cool and collected of the fashion pack. Here, the use of heavy tweeds and tucked wools is super strong. Surprisingly, nuances like asymmetry and origami folds work well with the streamlined Sander aesthetic. The color palette may be subdued - black, navy and grey - but better to let the tailoring shine. There are also quite a few perfect everyday dresses, ready to be gussied up with statement jewelry.

Milan Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2008: Fendi

Milan Fashion Week Fall 2008 came to an end last night with shows by Italian fashion giants Pucci and Fendi. Fendi mixed textured fabrics to create a collection which challenged proportions. They mixed leather, fur, suede and wool to create a line of voluminous short length skirts and dresses. There were plenty of frills, tiers and cut out detail to ensure each piece was individual.

Waists were clinched with leather belts in varying proportions to create a womanly body-con shape. Big pockets, cape sleeves and over the shoulder bags added padding to the sleek silhouette. Dresses and coats were styled with shoe boots or high suede boots were worn over the knee. There were a few cute bubble skirts which looked great with thick black tights, one of the best looks for the winter season!

Lohan and Fergie Hit Milan Fashion Week

As expected, Lindsay Lohan was front and center at Milan Fashion Week today posing for all the cameras before taking her front-row place at the Dolce & Gabbana show while her girl Samantha Ronson DJed. Check out Fab and Fab UK's takes on all the runway looks. Sheryl Crow and Naomi Campbell kept it casual in their coveted seats. Fergie was also all gussied up in black for the big show, also stopping by to see the DSQUARED2 collection. Lohan looked pretty happy to be back in Italy taking in all the Fashion Week parties. Plus, we all know how much fun she had while there for New Year's - I wonder if a rendezvous with any of her many suitors is in order?

Milan Fashion Week, Fall 2008: Dolce & Gabbana

The Dolce & Gabbana uomi have ditched sex appeal and embraced a more covered-up countryside style.

Choice materials are rustic: plaid, tweed, a patchwork scarf print, and corduroy. Even the ball gowns had a Little Orphan Annie appeal - they were matte and muted. But there were some luxe elements - furs, sexy jeans, fun lace-up shoes, and silk scarves worn around necks. I'm not loving the new skirt silhouette of Fall - below the knee - but at least these designers offset it with tight knit sweaters on top. Lastly, there is an overarching British sensibility. I think these Italian designers should stick to what they do best: la dolce vita.

Milan Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2008: Dolce & Gabbana

Milan Fashion Week continued today with shows from some of the biggest players in fashion including D Squared, Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana. Earlier in the week Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce presented their Royal inspired D&G collection but did they take the same inspiration for this line?

There was a very country feel to the collection which was heavy on checkered prints and smart tailoring. Fabrics were textured including corduroy, tweed and fur. There was also plenty of printed silk used in jaunty neck scarves, full skirts and pussy bow blouses. Similar to the D&G line, skirts were below the knee and trousers were high waisted. Nearly all looks were completed with a leather belt.

Cowboy style was referenced through mixed leather knee boots and checked shirts, which were occasionally worn with rock star print t-shirts peeking through. Autumn/Winter '08 definitely has a more mature and sophisticated approach, will be interesting to see how well it is translated to the High Street. Do you think people will take to the longer length of skirts/dresses? Is long the new short?
