Just when I was fearing a safe season of LBDs, Chloe walked the printed carpet in head-to-toe mint green Balenciaga. Phew! She stood out at the 12th Annual ACE Awards: Accessories Council Honors Fashion Influencers in an easy silk T-shirt dress, a rhinestone choker, nude swirly sandals, and a saucy metallic clutch. I covet her undone hair and her comfy chic look. If I were wearing a complete Balenciaga outfit, I would be at ease, too.

When I saw this shoe lineup in the November Vogue, I thought, what a dope shoe editorial. Um, no. This was the front row at Juan Carlos Obando's Fashion Week Spring show. These are not models, these are real life fashion players, their covetable shoes, and their glossy shins. Not only was this issue, with Reese on the cover, a stand out, I simply couldn't stop staring at this candy lineup. Can you? I served up some shoe fare for breakfast yesterday, here's another taste. Let's pick favorites, shall we? For me, it's between the dramatic yellow Balenciagas and the spectacularly shiny Galliano blue corset sandals; I can't pick just one. But you have to!

Help! I've fallen in burgundy bliss. Compared to its racy red sister, there's something about the blood-red handbag that provides warmth and dimension to any look.

This dark red delicacy goes hand-in-hand with Autumn's rich color palette and makes for an amazing compliment to dark denim or a sophisticated LBD. I think I need this amazing Miu Miu Woven Leather Tote ($1,595). Woven to perfection.

Paris Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Balenciaga

To be fair, I featured the prettiest, sci-fi induced looks from Nicolas Ghesquière's Spring collection. And there's more where that came from, but these are the most spectacular. Never one to succumb to trends, the Balenciaga designer paves his own way, always delivering a new direction. His direction is clearly into the future, but a luxurious one. Some looks were pared down, in matted colors, consisting of wrapped tops, sporty pants, and colorblocked detailing fit for a spaceship crew.

On the flip side is the tinfoil decadence you see here. Dig the sliced sleeve hem. This is a somewhat tame collection for the house, and most of us always look forward to his fancy footwear but the clunky, sporty boots aren't floating my boat. The designer did send handbags and menswear down the runway for the first time though, so there were a couple surprises.

I've always thought of actress and daughter of Jane Birkin Charlotte Gainsbourg as a cool girl, but not as a model. Still, the best friend of Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere has been chosen as the newest face of the house's Fall '08 advertisements. This is not the first time Charlotte has taken a stab at modeling, though; she was once the face of French handbag line Gerard Darel. She may not look like most models out there, but her svelte body is perfect for Balenciaga's latest crop of dresses and slick suits. And her robotic posing goes hand-in-hand with the paired-down but bold collection. What is your take on Balenciaga's Fall '08 ads?

Well hello there, Rihanna. Did you by any chance check yourself in the mirror today? Here is a classic case of a person thinking more is more. I certainly appreciate the pieces in Rihanna's outfit — Matthew Williamson top, Givenchy bag, Balenciaga boots — but not so much when they're all together.

The print top, black shorts, and brown bag work well together and cater to Rihanna's funky taste. I would have ditched the Balenciaga gladiators boots for a more understated sandal so as not to clash with the print of the top. Although the earrings are a tad too oversized for my taste, I'll let her have them since she can pull them off.

If there was a girl I had to deem representative of feminine and fun LA style it would be Nicky Hilton. She can be flashy fun, but she can also pull in the reigns and be sophisticated. This look softly portrays the lazy days of Summer. It's monochrome; her dress, Balenciaga bag, and wedges are ultralight hued. Speaking of the dress: Does anyone know who it's by?! This dress has been the thorn in my side all week and I now bring it to you, fine Fab readers, to help me ID it. It's adorable. The crocheted neckline, the buttons and the subtle ikat print are sundress perfection. She wears gold aviators and oversized hoops for bling effect, and her wedges have a vintage feel. Even her white cocktail ring stands out. I bet Nicky just threw on her (blank) dress and the rest, and headed out to the streets of her wonderland.

Fall Glimpse: Neck Fest

If Spring dabbled in statement necklaces, Fall was a full-on neck fest. Nay a dainty necklace here, a dainty necklace there; yay layers of chunky chains (Givenchy), costumey rhinestones (Balenciaga), jagged Swarovski crystals (Burberry), mixed media (Lanvin), and antique Indian masterpieces (McQueen).

The most innovative was perhaps Dries Van Noten (left), who fashioned his super-colorful, and no doubt super-heavy, neck pieces out of other jewelry items: ethnic bangles. Add a fur collar atop a stellar collection, and this neck fest would make any vampire pounce.

This Week's Fab Favorite: Charlize Theron

Every season a few items appear on the runways that you know are going to be superstars. Fall merchandise is not yet in stores — soon — but we are already seeing some stars wearing the aforementioned superstars on the red carpets. After all, celebrities who will help promote the house get first dibs. That being said, I predict we will see much more of this sharp Balenciaga LBD. I'm just glad the statuesque Charlize Theron wore it first. For the record, I am predicting Victoria Beckham will wear this one, too. At one of the Hancock premiere's, Charlize also chose to wear the decadent rhinestone bracelets that accompanied the slit-up-to-there dress on the runway. Man-eater shoes and slicked back hair toped off her power ensemble. I know we'll see more of this epic dress, just remember Charlize had first dibs.

The singer visited the BET studios in what may appear to be a crazy outfit, but if anyone can pull it off, it's someone young and funky like Rihanna. Double Take: Michael Kors Gets Inspired by Balenciaga

Can you blame Michael Kors for drawing inspiration from Balenciaga's Fall collection for his 2009 Resort line? I can't. Nicolas Ghesquière's collection, especially this particular black cut-out dress on Natasha Poly, was so cutting edge, heck, I would be inspired by it if I were a designer. While many of you may think it's weird for one designer to copy another so blatantly, it's completely acceptable in fashion. I mean, hello, there isn't a soul who hasn't copied Yves Saint Laurent's "Le Smoking" tuxedo suit! Kors made the dress, worn by model Vlada Roslyakova, his own by being more subtle with his cut-out shoulders, and by choosing a blue, abstract floral design. When it comes to fashion-forward designs, I say, the more the merrier.

Only, she decided to leave behind the heavy accessorizing for something more minimal. I love Nic's ability to accessorize, but every now and then, it's nice to see something unexpected. One of the trends that blossomed from that show were the multicolored weave footwear. Nicole Richie already got her feet on the boots, so let's also get in on the hot trend with these Spring/Summer-ready Sigerson Morrison T-Strap Woven Sandals ($425). They have the same black-and-white woven motif but they're much more comfortable. Oh, and considerably less pricey . . . $978 less to be exact!

WWD recently announced their top 10 collections of Fall and while some fall into my top 10, some most certainly do not. Here's WWD's top 10 (in no particular order): Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez, Balenciaga, Dries Van Noten, Lanvin, Prada, Rodarte, Vera Wang, Yves Saint Laurent. Nicole was out and about this weekend in a laid-back but, of course, stylish outfit. It's always all about the accessories with this girl, and this is no exception. She added a harder edge to her taupe Mason ruched tank and favorite skinny jeans with some rather fierce Givenchy peep toe heels and her trusty Balenciaga bag. This is a look the average Betty can easily put together herself, minus the big designer names — you know what I mean. We all have a pair of fierce heels in our closets and with Nicole as inspiration for how to wear them during the day, I just might break mine out.

Although you all weren't fans of the result, Mr. Ghesquiere must have seen something he liked because now rumors are swirling that he's tapped French actress, Balenciaga muse, and Parisian-chic style icon Charlotte Gainsbourg to appear in his Fall campaign. Do you think she would be a good choice?

I think her off-kilter beauty is a fine match for the house. But you may recall his Fall collection was pretty severe, I don't know if seemingly shy Charlotte can pull it off. We'll have to wait and see!

Structure, rubber, and slits: That's what Balenciaga Fall 2008 is made of.

Although the collection had continuity from previous seasons — cocoon-shaped jackets, cropped fitted pants, and greyscale color — surprises still abounded. Pearl-encrusted and rhinestone costume jewelry draped around necklines and wrists, deconstructed velvet bandage tops popped in primary colors, and hand-painted warrior armor closed the show.

But oh, the shoes! Silver on black pointy toe heels, white booties with sheer latex fluttering off the back and stilted square lucite heels all stole my heart.

This collection is definitely a more pared-down group than Nicholas Ghesquiere has sent down the runway in the past, but that's not to say that it doesn't deserve less attention . . .

If you're looking for an affordable collection with some serious fashion pedigree — bulls eye.

Designed with the help of Marie-Amelie Sauve, muse to Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere and fashion director of Vogue Paris, the newly in-stores Spring collection is full of nonchalantly chic tunic tops, shirtdresses, and baggy denim shorts.

Best of all, prices run $20-$70, with the exception of a cropped leather jacket ($35, so definitely check it out. After looking at this, I can't wait until Gap's other forthcoming European collaboration — shoes crafted by French designer Pierre Hardy — comes through the pipes.

The Pre-Fall collections have been quietly underway, but are definitely worth mentioning. They have been gaining more popularity as a preview of what's to come for Fall. Since Fall '08 is right around the bend, here are some observations . . . Fashion continues to be all about the lady, and no tramp. Grey seems to be the new favorite canvas color, as well as matte black; prints are mixed, poppy, artsy and colorful. Neutrals are gorgeous too. Sleeves are cropped and experimentation with volume brings it to an even more wearable place. Coats, fur, belts and skirt suits are a plenty. Fab favorites: Michael Kors and his Hitchcock babes, Missoni, Louis Vuitton's mismatching, Proenza's body conscious creations and Versace's sharp lines.

It seems anyone who's a designer is putting out sunglasses these days. Joining the list that already includes Banana Republic, Phillip Lim and Tiffany are Pucci, Balenciaga, Chris Benz, Karl Lagerfeld, Chaiken, and Jimmy Choo. Considering everyone wants to go incognito these days, it's no surprise that these designers also want a piece of the shady pie.

Pucci: This is the first time since the '70s that the label is bringing eyewear to its repertoire. The line features 19 styles in the famous Pucci colors like coral, blue, gold, purple, and black and white. It will be available this month at most major luxury retailers, will wholesale from $142 to $500.

Jennifer Connelly is one of those Fab women who makes me swoon. Not only is she an intense actress but her green eyes and fierce brows are transfixing. The house of Balenciaga is a full force to be reckoned with as well. When I heard Jennifer was to be the Spring face of the brand I got giddy. And here they are. As expected, David Sims' photography is bold, simple and beautiful. There are no frills — just Jennifer and Balenciaga. A fine choice to showcase both of the extraordinary talents. Only thing: Does Jennifer look a bit masculine? Maybe it's just the sculptured shoulders of the clothes. You didn't love it the first time around, do you love it now?Source
