Stars of the small screen flocked to the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles yesterday for the Primetime Emmy Awards. Our own Brits Cat Deeley and Ricky Gervais joined their American pals for the glamourous ceremony, which saw the guys stick to black suits and the women dazzle in an array of colouful dresses. Cat went for a pale floor-length number, while Gossip Girl buddies Leighton Meester and Blake Lively took opposite approaches with white and red.

We already had one look at all the gorgeous ladies on the Emmys red carpet, but many of the other ensembles were also amazing. Heidi Klum kicked things off in a dress that perfectly showcased her growing baby bump, while Tina Fey picked out a number in similar black. Leighton Meester was quite a contrast in white, looking pretty with her red lips.

I'm totally impressed with the Emmys red carpet this year! There was some good variety, experimentation, and color. This lineup of the bests of the night are all different; and it was really tough narrowing it down.

Debra Messing hit the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards' red carpet in a stunning orange-y red one-shoulder gown. This dress had the perfect mix of simplicity and elegance with its glittery embellishment and classy waist belt. She accessorized with beautiful diamond and gold leaf earrings and a gold cuff bracelet.

Debra Messing opted for simple elegance this evening, wearing a blood-orange, one-shoulder Michael Kors gown. The hue complements her red locks to perfection, and I love the sophisticated beading embellishment. For accessories, the actress adorned her ears with gold-leaf earrings and matching bangles.

When you're on the red carpet wearing a red dress and you have red hair like Debra Messing, would you wear red lipstick? That might be what one would call overkill, and that's probably why the actress opted for a nude-toned lip instead. As for the rest of her makeup, the funny lady paired that glossy lip color with an orange blush and lots of dark mascara.
