Confession: I'm not the sharpest when it comes to finance. Don't get me wrong, I know the basics, thanks to SavvySugar, but I want to learn more about investing my hard-earned money. To help point me in the right direction, a friend suggested I attend a personal finance seminar.

Our Pre-Fall preview continues with cozy collections from the likes of Emanuel Ungaro, Moschino, Balenciaga, Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Proenza Schouler, and Matthew Williamson. Purples and blues dominate along with the occasional pop of pink. I'm lusting over Ungaro's sexy sliced animal print mini dress, seen left.

Alber Elbaz has just revealed his pre-fall line for Lanvin. In these tough economic times the luxury fashion industry has taken a bit of a battering but Alber has put a positive spin on it. He told WWD, “When the market crashes, it’s best to invest in gold,” so he's created a glamorous dream world.

Leave it to Maggie Gyllenhaal to stand out from the crowd in a one-shouldered black and turquoise leopard print gown by Lanvin. I like how the simple black belt defines her waistline, and check out those amazing vintage-inspired earrings. Unique and cool, just like the actress.

If the Sonia Rykiel snowglobe didn't take your fancy then maybe you'll be more impressed by these Lanvin porcelain figures. Representing the best of Summer 2008 the seven hand painted figures were designed by Alber Elbaz and are a nod to the post-war Theâtre de la Mode show which couturiers used to use to show off their collections. This is the second collection to be released and feature the Summer collection '08 and also highlights from the bridal line.

My favorite Spring collection was Dries Van Noten. Graphic prints were an integral part of the eclectic collection. These calculated prints command attention and are stimulating to the eye.

Polka dots tend to connote whimsy, but actress Jennifer Connelly wears the print with complete maturity. She attended the Paris photocall of The Day the Earth Stood Still in a delicate polka-dot blouse, a black mini skirt, and cap-toe Lanvin platforms. She kept her accessories to a minimum, allowing her black and creme palette to speak volumes.

I always think that Alber Elbaz, the creative director of Lanvin seems adorable. The Israeli designer has been at Lanvin since 2001 and the collections seem to keep getting better.
This week he spoke to WWD and expressed the need to be emotional.
