Michael Kors Makes a Very Hollywood Cosmetics Line

Designer and Project Runway judge Michael Kors is getting pretty with a new color cosmetics collection that's due in January. The makeup line, which was created in collaboration with Estée Lauder, is part of the Very Hollywood brand and is designed to be the makeup equivalent of Michael's recently released perfume. The collection comes in two palettes, a pink and a beige-coral, with complementary blushes, sheer lip "sheens," and eyeshadow kits for each. I liked Very Hollywood perfume well enough, and this collection, given the bright colors and sheer tints, seems to be marketed toward a younger audience than Michael's usual fare, but I just don't know whether I need a Michael Kors pink blush when there are already a million gorgeous shades out there. What do you think? Are you excited for this designer beauty debut, or just kind of meh?

My new favorite kind of boot is the over-the-knee. I look forward to chilly weather so that I can bust them out and spice my legs up with them. But here's the thing: the right pair can make you look chic, the wrong, not so. You'll know when looking at it which category it falls in. I already own a black leather flat one, but would love to add a luxurious suede heeled style to my collection. During my hunt, I came across dozens of unique boots that I would make mine, wallet permitting. And these Stella McCartney Thigh-High Faux Leather Boots ($1,385), which the designer herself owns, are the over-the-knee Holy Grail. More than boots, they're like buying a pair of hot leather legs!

The Hollywood Awards Gala, the first event of award season, summoned a star-studded cast in LA last night. Charlize Theron, Zooey Deschanel, Diane Kruger, Julianne Moore, and Kate Beckinsale all livened up the red carpet with their chic ensembles. Charlize and Kate opted for slimming black, Diane looked angelic in white, and Zooey and Julianne coated themselves in color. Take a good look and decide who's most Fab.

The remaining seven Project Runway designers are asked to create an outfit inspired by a famous locale. Greece, St. Tropez, Aspen, Hollywood, New York City, and Santa Fe are the choices. Create a look that certainly embodies who you are as a designer, but also embraces that locale," Tim Gunn advises. The three who do precisely that were Irina (left), Gordana (center), and Althea (right). Seeing as Irina is experienced in outerwear, having Aspen gives her an edge, and she wins. Gordana's airy gray dress is inspired by NYC, while Althea's is so St. Tropez. All three are impressive, but which is most Fab?

Exclusive! Michael Kors Talks Fragrance and the Future

Last week, clothing and fragrance designer Michael Kors (and how could I forget Project Runway judge too) made a trip across the pond not only to visit his new Bond Street store, but to also make an appearance and sign bottles of his brand-new ultra-glamorous fragrance called Very Hollywood (which sells for £48 - £68).

The scent is both flowery and fruity as it contains notes of gardenia, ylang ylang, orris, bergamot, vetiver, white moss, mandarin, black current leaves, pink grapefruit, raspberry and a touch of amber for soul. It was inspired by the high end glamour of Hollywood including the red carpet, decadent jewels, gorgeous clothing and specifically The Beverly Hills Hotel.

The bottle resembles flashbulbs from the old-style cameras (think paparazzi) and overall, I'd say it's surprisingly more wearable and lighter than his original Michael fragrance from 2000. Was there one star that influenced you to create your latest fragrance?
It wasn't just one person. I'd say i's a combination of the old Hollywood glamour of Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly fused with the modernity of Jennifer Lopez and Angelina Jolie.
Where do you get your scent inspirations from?
I like a white floral so we played with right mix to make this one special. The gardenia infused with jasmine, and topped off with white moss makes it sparkle.
What can we expect to see next from Michael Kors Beauty?
We worked so hard to make VERY HOLLYWOOD right that I am committed to see it through, but I have a feeling I might get another need to take another aural journey in the ISLAND destination series.

Tanita Pe and I are ready for the crisp, Fall weather. Don't get me wrong - I love my Summers - but Autumn in SF is just as nice. Perfect timing. After this Summer, I decided I need a new one piece. Though I am a skimpy bikini girl at heart, there are times when a one piece is in order. Be it a swanky pool party or chillin' poolside with the fam, the return of the one piece is upon us. Brian Reyes sent out delicate seersuckers, Derek Lam posh loungers, even sexy fashion beast Herve Leger turned down the volume with a printed baby-blue laser-cut suit. If anyone can prove one pieces can be equally as sexy as two, it's Michael Kors and his clear plastic cut-out noir creation. If only I could have that model's chiseled cheekbones, too . . .
