The third nominee for FabSugar Designer of the Year is what you get when you pair one of the oldest French fashion houses with one of New York's fashion darlings. In 1997, Marc Jacobs was crowned the designer for Louis Vuitton and his collections have been spot on ever since. Pre-LV Marc Jacobs designed for Perry Ellis in 1986, and his tightly-knit polo shirts and cable knit cashmere sweater dresses gave way to grunge.

Target has added yet another upscale label to its accessible design roster: the hip, chic Rafe New York line of shoes and bags, founded by Filipino wunderkind Rafe Totengco in 1995. For the past decade, Totengco has created edgy, urban bags in the $500 range, but with his Target line, he's bringing his distinctive style to the masses. Though these limited-edition bags are all priced under $50, they look like big-budget buys.
