Androgynous Rachel Bilson, in Edie Rose For DKNY: Love It or Hate It?

You've seen Rachel Bilson's Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans collection on the models and now you're seeing it on the designer. I have to say, I admire celebrity designers who actually wear their creations. Rachel promoted her new line over the weekend in Florida and decided to go the highly androgynous route in a black cropped blazer, menswear shirt with black tie from her collection, and a bowler hat. She kept the rest of her look casual with skinny jeans and black flats. What do you think? Is this a good look for her or does she look Charlie Chaplin silly?

Paperbag Pants

High-waist pants that have a gathered waistband, usually tied by a sash or belt made of the same fabric. The term originated because this new style of pant looks like the top of a paper bag. Skirts can also have the same paperbag-like detail. The moniker isn't appealing, but paperbag pants look great on tall girls who seek a comfortable androgynous look.

Fabcon: Diane Keaton

How many actresses can say that a single movie role they played spawned a whole fashion movement? Playing Annie Hall was so natural for Diane Keaton, her personal style reflects what Annie would wear today, were she real. Yes, Diane has made a few fashion faux pas, but what risk-taker hasn't? If you don't take risks in fashion, you can't be in the running for a style icon. What's more, when Kate Moss is inspired by your style, you know you've got something special going on.

What attracts me to Diane's personal style is her ability to pull off androgynous looks with utter sophistication - like no other woman in Hollywood. She found a fashion genre that works for her, so she's stayed endlessly true to it. Not many fashion insiders have that much loyalty to one style. And I'm not the only one who sings Diane's praises; Rachel Bilson, who often dabbles with the boy-meets-girl style, looks up to her, too:

"Diane Keaton always stays true to herself, stylewise, which I admire so much. And I love her menswearish Annie Hall-era outfits," she said in Lucky Magazine's March issue.

I'm so glad Diane was chosen to portray Annie Hall, because in the hands of another actress, who knows if the menswear trend would live on so strongly today!

Used in fashion as a "look" of a female resembling a male. Popularized by actress Diane Keaton in the 1970's movie Annie Hall, and copied as fashion apparel.

Kate Bosworth and Amanda Peet recently went androgynous at New York Fashion Week.

Trend Alert: Lace Blouse

If you want to really indulge your feminine side this season then why not get yourself a lace blouse? There are so many currently available on the High Street with pretty cape sleeves.

Dare to bare by wearing your blouse over a black bra with a blazer or tuxedo jacket. Alternatively, hint at the trend with a lace panel blouse (£152). I would wear a lace top with tailored trousers for an androgynous look.

Who here is a Diane Keaton fan? And who admired her famous androgynous look from Annie Hall? There is something very sexy about when a woman wears a man's clothes; such designers as Commes de Garcons and Giorgio Armani have built menswear-inspired womenswear empires based on this fact. I thought this androgynous cool outfit posted by sinplicit was a great look and a cool photograph to boot. She is today's Look Book Look of the Day.

Frédéric Malle's New Androgynous and Outrageous Fragrance

New from Frédéric Malle in collaboration with Sophia Grojsman (the nose behind scent successes such as Lancome Tresor, YSL Paris and Calvin Klein Eternity) is an exclusive scent for Barneys Co-Op. Designed for men and women alike, the fragrance is a succulent blend of capirihna, clean laundry, green apple, orange blossom, amber and cedar.

I'm curious to know whether the scent of clean laundry means we'll be seeing-er, sniffing-more of that in other fragrances. Imagine if there's a new wave of Eau de All or Eau de Tide coming soon!

Although the fragrance is not 100% organic, the packaging is made from recycled cardboard, so at least it's a step in the right direction. According to an interview with Simon Doonan of Barneys New York, Malle says that the fragrance "had to be right for Co-Op. I wanted an androgynous, super-sexy scent, like a good pair of jeans ..."

I like how that comparison resonates and it kind of makes me want to smell it now. What do you think? A bottle of Outrageous sells for $110 and is available in a 100ml size only.

Behind the Seams: Stars Mix and Mingle for Rag & Bone in LA

Gossip boy Ed Westwick hosted a bash at LA's Confederacy for artist Todd DiCiurcio's new show Heartstrings over the weekend. It was sponsored by Rag & Bone, so as you can imagine, the crowd was understated and styley. Ed's girl, Gossip Girl Jessica Szohr stood out in her androgynous pinstripe suit and chunky chain necklace. Also there to support were Hilary Duff, Ashley Greene, Lindsay Price, Bijou Phillips, and more. Brick walls lent a raw vibe, while darkly dressed guests made the scene feel straight NYC.
