Xoqiqixo is experiencing the Summer blues in a stylish manner. She scored an oceanic maxi dress for only $10 — amazing. I'm also digging how her ivory crocheted shrug gives off a Mexicana feel.

Diane Kruger supported fellow German designer Anja Gockel by attending her show at Berlin Fashion Week. The Fab favorite lived up to her stylish reputation in a Summery ensemble that's girlie and utilitarian at the same time. The green cargo shorts balance out the feminine ivory crochet blouse, while her tan sandals add au natural sex appeal.

Singer Cassie rocked an edgy, punk crochet look at the BET Awards last night. I love how glam the lacy pattern looks in black, and Cassie's punk-inspired half-shaved head accentuates the singer's beauty while letting fans know that she's not to be trifled with. Inspired, I set out to find some similar looks.

Some people rob banks and get into trouble with too much time on their hands — others crochet berets in the shape of Thanksgiving pies. (Nice latticework, and I'm really digging that scrumptious dollop of cream!) I'm pro-pie crocheting, just in case you were wondering.

Long thought to be a symbol of fertility, luck, and abundance, the pomegranate is also connected to the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, which just ended. If you're not a fan of eating pomegranates, though, I've found one for you that, while inedible, is certainly delicious to look at. This metal pomegranate ($65) has been crocheted from orange metallic wire.

You probably think crochet is best left for the elderly but think again. Mischa certainly doesn't think so. I always knew this girl was a flower child at heart and here she is looking crochet cool while frolicking in the warm sands of Malibu.

If you're not an itsy-bitsy-bikini type of gal, turn on the pool boys with this Vintage Black Crochet Bathing Suit, size small. It's still super-steamy and will keep a worrisome tummy area in check. Like I said, one piece, all fabulous!

There are a couple interesting things going on with Eva while she was on her way to the Ken Paves Salon. First, she was wearing crochet head-to-toe — an indication that Summer has arrived for the actress. Second, she was shopping at Target!

An overt sign that the growing crochet trend has been taken to new heights, literally, is artist Carol Hummel's Tree Cozy. As part of a two-year exhibition of eight works by sculptors in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Hummel crocheted a cozy with brightly colored nylon and synthetic material for a tree in front of Cleveland Heights City Hall, which wouldn't impede "the growth of the tree or [harm] wildlife." In her artist statement, Hummel refers to the tree cozy as "an emphatically handmade blanket representing femininity and comfort" which covers "a natural object representing masculinity and strength," a piece that personifies the tree "keeping it cozy and colorful throughout the year, enhancing the beauty of nature," and evokes "memories of bygone times and places when life was good," as well as "softens the strong tree form while also emphasizing it."

Even though crafting has become cooler, the art of crochet is still seen by many people as belonging to little old ladies with big bags and crochet hooks. Even knitting is now vastly cooler than crocheting. Leave it to an innovative lady to turn that idea on its head.
