Metallics And Jewel Brights Rule At Swarovski Party

The dark night of London was lit up yesterday thanks to a profusion of jewel tones at the Swarovski Rock Giles Party at The Old Sorting Office. After wowing me in her gorgeous wine-coloured outfit at the Giles show earlier in the day, Agyness Deyn changed in to a striking pair of silver trousers, while Jamelia and Jasmine Guinness went for ruby red and emerald green. Jo and Leah Wood still had enough energy after their busy day at LFW shows to party the night away in shiny tops and sequins.

Estelle kept it more casual but still on trend in that gorgeous green camouflage scarf I spotted Louise Redknapp wearing earlier - looks like the Louis Vuitton scarf is the accessory du jour, as my girl FabUK tells me. Newlywed Katherine Heigl went furniture shopping in LA yesterday looking casual yet stylish. I admire that instead of throwing on sweats like so many stars, she chose a teal Marc by Marc Jacobs ruffle blouse, a Jimmy Choo bag, and Tory Burch leopard flats. Her sunnies are a little ill fitting, but I'll get over it because I'm digging the jewel tones in her outfit.

I refuse to accept the fact that the European Spring ready-to-wear shows are over. So, I will continue to believe by sharing some more of my highlights; I'm sure you won't mind. Lanvin concluded Paris and what a grande finale it was. While the rest of the collection was magically inventive, and wonderfully wearable, these jewel-toned party frocks stole my heart. Words can't describe the sensations these fabric creations arouse in me. Ok, now I know you're thinking I've gone fashion cuckoo. Well think what you want, but these Alber Elbaz dresses were the ne plus ultra of Paris. As the designer puts it: "Everything is about ease for the woman...zip it on, zip it off, that's it." You heard the man - that's it!

Canary diamond, ruby, sapphire, and amethyst all showed up on the red carpet tonight, but not just in jewelry form! These ladies accessorized their ice with bold, jewel-toned gowns: Felicity Huffman and Julie Louis-Dreyfus went with a lovely shade of purple, while Portia, Ellen, and America chose hues of blues. Ali Larter looked fantastic in ruby red and Minnie Driver pulled off canary diamond perfectly. Bold, beautiful jewel tones all around!

Designer Spotlight: Katy Rodriguez

Drama, luxury and jewel tones are words to describe Katy Rodriguez's Fall collection. But there's a lot more to this designer than that...

Born and raised in San Francisco, Katy Rodriguez initially made her mark in 1996 as co-founder of designer vintage store, Resurrection. With business partner Mark Haddawy, she also collaborated on a collection of their own called 'caitie et marc.'

Known for her abilities to cultivate the best vintage from around the world, Rodriguez has also been recognized by Vogue on its annual Best Dressed List. In 2005, Rodriguez struck out on her own, debuting her eponymous collection. Chosen as one of Gen Art’s “Fresh Faces,” Rodriguez showed her Spring 2007 collection at the Gen Art Show in October of 2006. She went on to show her Fall 2007 collection at the Gramercy Park Hotel at an intimate gathering of celebrity clients and editors.

Living in SF, I'm about all about layering. That's where cozy sweater coats come in handy. Complexity versus ease: That's what CRHEE's Spring/Summer '10 collection explores. Luxurious silk fabrics are used in bold jewel tones and rhythmic prints - the result is dark romance, light sensuality. This season, designer Christine Rhee was inspired by everything from the photography of Guy Bordin, David Fincher videos, to muses Diana Ross and Diane von Furstenberg. She refers to this line as strangely familiar, the concept of classics with a modern undertone. Rompers, flowy tanks, and draped harem pants, ranging from $200 to $450, all fit the description.

Has Heidi Klum Made the Perfect Lipstick?

Did you know that Victoria's Secret Beauty is one of the best-selling brands in the country? Yep. Who knew? A revamp of the line's VS Makeup means it's worth a new look, and it probably doesn't hurt that Christian Siriano and Heidi Klum are collaborating on makeup collections for the brand. Heidi's latest endeavor is a collection of makeup inspired by her travels to the spiritual city of Varanasi, India. To that end, the jewel-toned packaging is gorgeously draped in golds, pinks, and purples.

I've been playing around with some of the products, and one thing stands out above everything else: Heidi Klum Perfect Lipstick ($16) in Exotic Spice. It's pretty much the perfect versatile shade of nude pink, and the moist and creamy formula has just a hint of shine. It works for a natural, low-key look as well as a glamorous nighttime one, and it just feels nice on the lips. I'm not absolutely crazy about the chocolate scent, but your mileage may vary. Either way, this has become my go-to shade - even if I don't look like Heidi with it on.
