Trend Alert: Kimono Cuts

There's something about kimono cuts that give off a Zen-like feel. Is it the wide sleeves or flattering shape? Or maybe it's the robe-inspired cut. Whatever it is, I dig it. Check out this McQ Bird Intarsia Kimono Dress ($293, originally $585). The foldover cut and funky print is the perfect mix of East meets West.

On Our Radar: McQ Pop Up Showroom

Alexander McQueen's McQ line is one of my favourite designer diffusion lines. It has all the edge of McQueen's mainline collection but is catered to a much younger audience with it's fan base including London scenesters Daisy Lowe and Alexa Chung.

Last Thursday the latest McQ Spring line was revealed in London's Soho in a pop-up showroom. The collection has previously been shown as part of New York and Milan fashion week but this season they have opted to launch it in a showroom setting. Pieces revealed included a slouchy silk tiger print T-shirt dresses, pink and black gingham shirts and optical print leggings in clashing colours.

The pieces are at a slightly lower price point than Alexander McQueen's mainline with t-shirts starting from £80 up to £545 for a coat.

This leopard print scarf dress is available now (£260).

I always knew Liv was cool. I think she's subtly channeling her Halloween spirit here in a black-and-white bird-print blouse. With ghouls and goblins top of mind, wearing something stylishly somber is so Fab. Whether donning a busy print or a single creature of flight, the birds put me in the mood for a Hitchcock marathon.

AlexanderMcQueen.com has just added an e-commerce function to their website and it's chock full of collectibles. The site now sells items from his breathtaking Fall collection including looks straight off the runway. In addition to the clothes and accessories, exciting video footage from his runway shows are available for viewing pleasure along with exclusive updates on his special projects.

Packing power to his punch, McQueen is currently holding a special contest for the newly launched e-commerce site. Visitors can sign up to win two tickets to his Spring 2009 runway show at Fashion Week in Paris in October, and yes, accommodations are provided.

McQ Zip Up Romper: Love It or Hate It?

Alexander McQueen showed his colorful side with this McQ Zip Up Romper, ($400). The abstract print is Spring festive, but I'm not really sure about the short, high-waisted cut. It's pretty hard to pull off this look - it looks like a Rainbow Bright meets Power Ranger costume. Is this romper hot, or not?
