You loved Rachel Weisz in emerald green dip-dyed Valentino; how about Evangeline Lily in a turquoise version? At the Looking For Eric premiere, "Freckles" and new L'Oréal lady opted for a cool crisscross bodice and high slit, but it's the bright-to-dark turquoise hue I adore. With the high neck, pulling her hair back in a slick pony was totally a good call. Thoughts?

I just bought a pair of suede coral sandals, and they're just waiting for me to pair them with an awesome frock. Such a jovial color needs an equally fine friend, so I'm thinking about putting them together with this Indah Mosaic Minidress ($35, originally $170). Hey, any excuse to go shopping, right? Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey enjoyed time on the beach on the 4th of July, and while Jim looked pretty good in his woman's bathing suit, she was hotter in her Scoop Beach Smocked Dress ($365). It comes with a rope belt but Jenny opted to remove it for the beach. Unlike many other ombre maxis, this one is silk so it's wearable in dressy situations. I told you dip-dyed maxis were all the rage.

Nice and New: Tord Boontje's Ombré Midsummer Light

By now, you must have seen Tord Boontje's Midsummer Light, yes? I think I can safely say that it, along with several of his other designs, was partially responsible for the laser-cut lace trend that's been going on lately. But Boontje isn't just a trend-setter; he follows the trends as well. He's reinvented his ubiquitous pendant in ombré, a recent trend that's been flaunted all over catwalks and kitchens for months now. Regardless, I'm loving this "fading" (as it's called), and hope to see it in more colors. Let's wait and see if Boontje can work any other fads into this pendant. Maybe he'll make his next one out of birch.

The word 'ombre' has been bandied around a lot this season already and it's only just beginning, but lots of people still don't understand what it means. Here is a quick definition to help you understand:

n. A French term meaning "shaded." Usually a multicolored stripe, with colors graduating from light to dark. The color effect is woven into the fabric. Generally produced by arranging different tones in the warp. It is sometimes referred to tie-dye or colour gradient.
