Mango Swaps Penelope For Scarlett

Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson have a lot in common. Besides starring in one of my favorite recent movies, Vicky Christina Barcelona, the two Hollywood beauties also share a love for Mango. The Spanish retailer just announced Scarlett Johansson will be succeeding our beloved Penelope as Mango's new face. The brand describes Scarlett as the ideal Mango woman: "chic, independent, and cosmopolitan," also stating, "Johansson exudes a confident demeanor while remaining youthful and playful." Tear, we'll miss you Penelope. Johansson will make her first Mango debut in the Fall '09 campaign shot by Mario Sorrenti.

Prairie skirts, ruffles, fringe, and paisley are just a few of the yummy options the Spanish retailer brings us. There are both bold and soft looks, and Pene is every bit the Mango muse. Ole!

Of all the images Mango and Penelope have created together, this latest one is the most up close, literally. It retains an air of sexiness that's undeniably Penelope, but it also reveals the actress's softer, more sensual side. The pastel colors are sweet and less in-your-face than her previous designs. I'm loving everything I see so far - especially the pink jeans (left), denim jacket, beaded dress, and striped cardigan.

If anyone can make knits and coats look sexy, it's Penelope. After the Summer collection, she's striking a few new poses in Mango's Fall collection. This has me itching for a new Fall wardrobe. Leather jackets, colorful knits, sexy cardigans, and plaid and sheer blouses make up a cozy Mango montage. And once again, Penelope's sultry gaze does the brand justice.

You can already browse and shop the Fall catalog. Blouses hover in the $60-$80 range, dresses are $80-$100, and leather jackets are the most pricey at around $250.

As if we didn't already know that Penelope Cruz is one sexy mama, now we can see more of her feline appeal in Mango's Summer collection. What I love about Penelope as a model is that she's raw, natural, and completely womanly. She's got hips that don't lie and she's not afraid to accentuate them with snug pants. Speaking of pants, there are quite a few in the Summer line: high-waisted jeans, nautical white trousers, denim shorts. There's also bright florals, crisp crochet, studs, and nautical stripes. The prices are also quite reasonable at $29-$129. Seeing how Penelope sizzles in these ads, I can only imagine how these clothes will make me feel once I actually slip them on!

Fab Ad: Penelope and Monica Cruz For MNG Mango

As promised here is the new batch of Penelope and Monica Cruz's ads for their new collection for MNG Mango. Shot by Mert and Marcus, the women play with sexuality. In one shot they aim for sexy androgyny and in the other vivid candy apple flirtation. I think these look wonderfully all American; like from the pages of Vogue. Here's a fun game: Try to figure out which sister is which. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the sisterly resemblance is uncanny. What's more, these clothes are cute! They look classic, but fun, and aren't too trendy. The new 38-piece collection for Mango will hit stores mid-February.

The ads, which break globally in February, were shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in London and feature Mango's signature Spring collection. If you're wondering about the fate of Penelope and her sister Monica's collection for MNG Mango, a second round is set to hit select Mango stores mid-February.

Mas on Penelope and Monica Cruz for MNG Mango Limited-Edition Collection

You may have been blown away by the uncanny resemblance of the Cruz sisters - weren't we all - but we're blown away by their upcoming limited-edition collection for MNG Mango. When we first heard about Penelope and sister Monica's fashion endeavor we were skeptical, what with all the recent celebrity-turned-designers. But after seeing the sultry duo in pieces from their collection, I'm pretty stoked!

Word on the street is the collection will hit stores September 19 and consist of red-carpet-inspired evening wear, jeans, knits and daywear, based on vintage pieces from their own wardrobes. According to Penelope:

“This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time. We just had to find the right people to do it with. We’ve always loved clothes – we used to hide in the bathroom with fashion magazines and say, ‘I want that one.’ We’d get a pencil and mark the pictures, and show how we’d transform them at home.”

Crafty and beautiful - say it isn't so. I think this celeb sister tag team may be giving another sister designer team a run for their money, ahem Miller sisters. The Cruz sisters definitely have sex appeal and juicy pouts but, most importantly, what do you all think of the clothes?!

Penelope and Monica Cruz for Mango

No matter how many collections these sisters do for Mango, I will never be able to tell them apart! Here is a sneak preview of their upcoming Spring/Summer collection for the Spanish retailer Mango.

Following the success of their previous collection the sisters have designed this line including plenty of florals and tailoring. I already have my eye on the floral maxi dress (pictured left). I can't help but thinking that the photos have a very '90s feel, especially the shot of the white jumper dress. You can shop the Spring collection here, the Summer items (pictured here) are yet to be released.
