Viktor & Rolf Try to Outdo Flowerbomb With Eau Mega

Flowerbomb, Viktor & Rolf's first fragrance, has been a cult hit since it came out a few years ago. But this week, the brand quietly released its second scent, Eau Mega. Just so you all know how dedicated I am to good-smellin' stuff, I trekked all the way down to Nordstrom during lunch to sniff it, since only a few locations have the fragrance so far. Luckily, the reconnaissance on this baby is good.

V&R didn't play it safe at all, and Eau is totally different from the F-bomb, though just as playful. The atomizer is also too cute to be believed, and well worth playing with (you spray it by squeezing the big gold V&R seal on the side). Cruise '10 Trend: Clean, Lean Trousers

With Cruise '10 in full effect, let's stop and evaluate the latest. Frocks and skirts dominated, but what really caught my eye were clean, lean trousers - quite the opposite of crazy harem pants. Instead, trousers ranged from cropped and loose-fitting to tight and body-con. All polished, all pretty. Each style had its own appeal; I can see myself rockin' these silky Roksanda Ilincic trousers to a rooftop party and these Rebecca Taylor pants for a lazy bike ride. Paris Fashion Week, Spring '09: Viktor & Rolf

Watching Viktor & Rolf's virtual fashion show makes me wonder why more designers don't go this route. I smell a new trend. Old-school model Shalom Harlow is the only one on catwalk. Or, shall I say, only ones. It's all good though; it makes me focus more on the clothes and less on the models. Wait until you see how up close and personal the camera takes you. It's better than being in the front row! Per usual, these men know how to entertain. The oversize jewels and funky shoes are especially fun. And wait for the finale - a metallic Spirograph dress followed by multiple Shaloms applauding, and . . . well, watch for yourself.

Fab Flash: Viktor & Rolf Spring '09 Collection to Go Virtual

Viktor & Rolf are known for their experimental shows during Paris Fashion Week but sadly, the two have opted out of presenting their collection on the runway. Instead, the eccentric duo will be unveiling their 2009 Spring/Summer line virtually on their website. That means everyone (including me and you) can view their creative clothes and antics online.

Their Spring/Summer collection, named Funny Face, debuts Oct. 2 and is "An actual show filmed in the Grand Salon of our virtual house," said the designers. In addition, viewers will be able to go behind-the-scenes and check out the backstage areas, hair and makeup, and designer fittings.

"It is a take on what a fashion show might be in the future," said Viktor & Rolf.

Freaky or Fabulous? Viktor & Rolf Dolls

Viktor & Rolf have always set themselves apart with their Dutch eccentricity and experimental runways. They came onto the scene in 1996 and delivered their creations as art, or more accurately, as an art installation. For an upcoming retrospective, instead of featuring their clothes in the normal mannequin format, this dynamo duo chose something more . . . freaky.

Raise your hand if dolls freak you out a little bit? With their pale stillness and beady eyeballs, dolls have gotten a bad rap (Chucky, hello?). Fifty-five lucky dolls are to be decked out in V&R garb fashioned for an exhibit at the Barbican Art Gallery in London. The dolls will also be all prinked up with full hair and makeup. In Sunday's New York Times Magazine, Viktor Horsting elaborated, “Every garment is like a couture garment. Everything was scaled down - the embroideries, the prints, all the accessories.” This one wins fabulous to me, by a doll hair, what say you?

Viktor & Rolf Just Say No, No, No

Amy Winehouse isn't the only one saying no, no, no to something. Designing duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren took their Fall '08 collection as an opportunity to be full-on negative. "We love fashion, but it's going so fast. We wanted to say 'No' this season," the duo said. And the message was loud and clear. From three-dimensional "No"s on trench coats, to comic-book style "No"s on tees, to "No"s on the models' faces, this collection was indeed negative. But luckily the clothes were all positive. The men continued to impress me with detailed frocks, wool corset tops, and satin skirts. I am a "Yes" woman myself so this is all rubbing me the wrong way, you?

On Our Radar: Fashion Gets Mini

There are so many Karl Lagerfeld imitators out there, but in BlackBook Magazine's cheeky feature Isn't It Iconic? the Chanel designer isn't the only one getting mimicked. Viktor & Rolf, Vivienne Westwood, John Galliano, Anna Piaggi, and Carine Roitfeld are also given mini versions of themselves in the latest issue.

They're all so dead-on, it's hard to choose a favorite. I'll go with Kaiser Karl, since achieving his stoic look is a toughie. Which one strikes your fancy?
