I've died and gone to gray heaven. My everyday neutral has been sexified by model Selita Ebanks, designer Haider Ackermann, and actress Paula Patton. They are all wrapped in gray, and I'm wrapped in envy. While gray is the perfect canvas for a colorful accessory, here it stands alone just fine. While the color may be safe, the cuts are anything but; ruched, draped, asymmetrical, slit, and one-shouldered, the party never ends. If you're seeking one dress to take you through the season, look no further.

Every time I peruse Shopbop, I end up with a cart-full of amazing items. Can I afford them all? By no means, but that doesn't stop me from obsessing. The retailer has stocked a staggering amount of cold-weather gear to keep us cozy and ahead of the fashion game come Fall. I'll give you a few hints about my favorites: studs, sequins, lace, leather, mixed metals, red, and bows. This Catherine Malandrino Gramercy Jacket ($795) is one I'd like to get out of my cart and into my hands ASAP. The fusion of leather and lace, and that delicately draped front, is divine.

Trend Alert: Sassy Sweats

I feel like it was only yesterday I was frustrated with celebrities who wore sweats while carrying their designer handbags - sorry, so not Fab. Luckily, those days are pretty much over, but with sassy sweats on the rise, I may have to accept the trend. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about some sassiness when walking Annabelle around the 'hood or going on a hike, but there's a time and a place. Sweatshirts can be an adorable ode to Jazzercise, case in point: Bosworth in her faded lavender Harlow sweatie running errands in LA. Denim shorts and quirky loafers prevent her from being too sloppy or '80s. Let's get physical, physical . . .

Dress Me Up: Bundle of Cool

Among the things I love about Fall is that you can dress comfortably without being slobby. Roomy sweaters are the way to go - they provide warmth, hide the effects of comfort food, and make you a feel like a bundle of cool.

Shopbop has a collection of sweaters that fit the bill. This b.chyll Sable Cashmere Sweater ($418) is extra spacious and comes with handy oversize pockets. Sweet. Just be sure to keep the bottom portion of your outfit slim to balance out the look.

Trend Alert: Poncho Power

Anyone who has ever worn a poncho can attest to the fact that they are a cumbersome way to keep warm. I still haven't worn the one I purchased from Peru three years ago. Oops.

The C-String invisible underwear got you all talking, but I somehow doubt it got you buying.

We all hate VPLs, but we're not all willing to sacrifice comfort to avoid them. Nundies ($15 for a pack of five) provides a happy medium between comfort and utility. You simply peel and paste on your pants or tights - no VPLs, no hassle of washing. Seeing as they're not cheap, I'd advise using Nundies for special occasions like Valentine's Day or a wedding. Oh, and if you dare to wear Hervé Léger's skin-tight dresses.

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008: VPL & Exclusive Designer Interview!

I've talked about VPLs numerous times on Fab but haven't mentioned VPL as much. Allow me to clarify. VPL by Victoria Bartlett does play on visible panty lines, but it's seen as a good thing in her world. I've been coveting one of Victoria Bartlett's color contrast bra-like tops for a while now and was excited to see her unique bodycon creations in the flesh, or rather, in the fabric. VPL celebrates contrast and contradiction and the designer is inspired by some really interesting stuff. See VPL's Fall collection and hear the designer behind the label.

You’ve always done innerwear as outerwear. And now a lot of designers are doing that.

Yes, it’s always been that way. A lot people mistake it for lingerie. I never intended lingerie; it was always innerwear. Years ago when I was at Miu Miu I started doing innerwear as outerwear and I was always fascinated by innerwear to be seen. Innerwear, outerwear, anywhere. It’s really a mixing block so you can layer.

Is there anything you did differently this time around?

You know what’s weird, I went back to what is inherent to VPL which is the “Musculature” of the whole body. The only thing that was really new was bringing more tailoring to it. But it was quite an adventure for me because I’ve always been much more about cut and sew and knits.

Tell me about the fabrics you used?

A lot of the fabrics that I tailored were really manable and spongy even though they look sculpted. I’m really into textures. Viscose is so soft, when you want to sleep in something . . . it’s just so soft.

Who are your muses?

[Interruption for an introduction to shoe designer Jean Michel Cazabat, who did the shoes for the show - loved the metallic flat boots!]

Louise Bourgeois [French artist and sculptor] and pendulous shapes and body formations. It’s quite sensual. She uses all color palettes and different textures. And Hans Bellmer [the German surrealist artist] who did jointed dolls in the late ‘20s. You have all these lines that were divided and sculptural muscle areas. To me that’s something I love and love exploring.

Backstage Beauty: VPL

Last week, our FabSugar team attended the VPL Spring 2008 Fashion Show. While the clothing was sheer and chic, and the makeup was pretty and plain, the hair was va va voom!

While most of us do whatever we can to fight the frizzies, hairstylist extraordinaire Neil Moodie, created a wild, crimped 'do that made those frizzies, kinda flattering. All of the products he used were from Bumble and Bumble, and the entire process is relatively easy to achieve.

Step 1: - Spray dry, clean hair with Bumble and Bumble Tonic and then work in a little bit of Bumble and Bumble Styling Creme to the roots and lengths of your hair.
Step 2: Next, on the underside of the head, lightly crimp small sections of hair. When hair is cool, brush out the hair to create volume. Next, gently tease (back-comb) the hair at the roots.
Step 3: Flip head over and spray with Bumble and Bumble Does It All. As final step, flip hair up and then brush it out really well one more time (yes, it will be quite full looking).
