Hi, it's Allison MacNamara, and in today's episode of Currently Trending, I'm gonna show you three gowns perfect for the beach bride. You found the perfect destination, now all you need is the perfect dress. We found three IJO gowns that fill all the requirements for the beach bride. They're breezy, and they even look great with bare feet.
So today, I'm here at Kleinfeld Bridal Salon in New York City with the co-owner Mara Urschel, who's got 20 years experience in all things bridal. Before getting to our top picks, what are some things to look for when you're shopping for a beach wedding gown?
The most important thing is comfort because you're going to be outside, you're going to be somewhere a lot of fun and everything. So I think the comfort thing to be number one. Then it has to be a dress that is very transportable.
What makes it transportable? What are the things that make it easy to move from one place to the next?
Well it starts out with the fabric and the shape, it has to be a small shape. I would stay away from heavy fabrics, I would stay away from satins, but it's important to have good fabric, like silk Georgette does not wrinkle that much and that you can really carry easily and pack easily.
First up we have our most traditional pick. It's this gorgeous Jenny Lee gown. So why is it so great for a beach wedding?
Well, Jenny Lee dresses are really very popular, and they're popular because of fit. This dress happens to be incredible because it's made out of silk satin, silk crepe, and overlaid with a beautiful tulle that billows on the beach. It's a great look. It's good for any kind of body. And it's very comfortable because of the straps.
Definitely. Adding that hint of sparkle around the waistline, which I think is so great when you're on the beach.
The sparkle is very, very small, it's very classic. And it just twinkles in the sunlight, which is what all the brides want.
Next up we have this really simple dress that has these wave-like ruffles that's perfect for the beach wedding, by Peter Langner. So tell me about all the details on this gorgeous dress.
The greatest detail is the wave like motion of the silk organza that mimics the waves of the ocean. It has the train in the back so it gives you the movement that you need to be [xx] near the water, this can be accessorized beautifully. How would you do that? I would put a jeweled belt, something that really pinched in your waist line.
And for women who are not usually drawn to a more column style or A-line silhouette, what would you tell them? Why would you tell them to pick this dress? Well, this dress looks like a column from the front, but theres a lot of movement and freedom of fabric in the back. So you can really be comfortable and enjoy yourself and have a very great glamorous sexy look from the front.
Lastly we have this gorgeous romantic dress by Elizabeth Fillmore. So tell me all about it. Well, Elizabeth Filmore does incredible custom dresses, and she uses the best fabrication and the most incredible embroidery that is all hers. You won't see it on any any other dress. What makes this dress special, is that it has this very flowing ruffle of silk georgette, and it's kind of a half a peplum, which happens to be the major trend it goes up and continues down the front, so you have this beautiful movement of Deluie Rafaoul, 'kinda of 30s look which is fabulous.
Definetely it kind of has like that nailed Beverly soft sexy, with just kind of a really romantic whimsical look. Whether you want something on the more traditional side, or you want to plan for your destination wedding with beachy ruffles and textures, use these gorgeous gowns as inspiration when shopping for your big day.
