Why Everyone's Turning Their Clothes Inside Out on Instagram

If you've scrolled through your Instagram feed today, you may have noticed a few images that looked a bit off. Not showing the typical #OOTD, these social snaps show people committing a major fashion faux pas – wearing their clothes inside out. Only thing is, they're doing it on purpose.

The reason? Today is Fashion Revolution Day, named in remembrance of the Rana Plaza clothing factory collapse in Bangladesh that took place one year ago today. It killed more than 1,100 workers — men, women, and children — and injured more than 2,500.

Those behind Fashion Revolution Day are "turning fashion into a force for good" by asking anyone with a shirt on their back to turn it inside out, not just in honor of those lives lost but as a message that consumers should be more mindful about where their clothes come from.

"Find out who made your clothes — from who spun the threads, to who sewed them together, to who grew the cotton in the first place," the organization's website says. "Your clothes already tell a story about who you are. Now they can tell a better one."

From fashion influencers like Susie Bubble and Kate Foley to women across the globe, we rounded up a handful of the more than 63,000 Instagrams and tweets already tagged with #InsideOut to show that once again, when it comes to true style, it's what's on the inside that counts.
