Kate Hudson Opens Up About "Tempting Fate" For a Pregnancy With Matthew Bellamy

Kate Hudson scored the May cover of InStyle and in an accompanying interview chats all about her new movie, Something Borrowed, and the new phase of life she's entering.

Kate Hudson scored the May cover of InStyle and in an accompanying interview chats all about her new movie, Something Borrowed, and the new phase of life she's entering. She spoke candidly about meeting her boyfriend, Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy, and how they weren't entirely trying to avoid having a baby. The actress is already mom to 7-year-old Ryder Robinson, and she seems to be loving being pregnant — there have been plenty of Kate Hudson bikini moments over the last few months! Kate had this to say about Matthew and the pregnancy:

  • On first meeting Matthew: "[I was] watching Radiohead's Thom Yorke with a guy I knew from high school, who introduced me to Matthew. We realized we had met a few years earlier, in Australia. Then I got distracted and said, 'I've got to find my friends; I don't know where they went.' He just looked at me and said, 'Come on, I'll take care of you.' That's when I went, 'Wait a minute, who are you?'"
  • On starting to date Matthew: "In the beginning I felt like, OK, this is going to be heavy. Am I prepared for this? Because it had been a while, and I wasn't looking for that. But I just couldn't stay away. I wanted to talk to him and be with him all the time. On our first dates, we would take long walks and talk the entire day."
  • On sort of planning for the baby: "Well, it wasn't like we didn't know what we were doing. There were no ovulation kits involved. We were tempting fate, and it worked. . . . I didn't think I was going to have another kid until I was maybe 33 – that was in the back of my mind before I met Matthew. But we were so in love when it happened, it was just so exciting for both of us."

Are You Excited For Tina Fey's Bossypants Book?

Tina Fey is on the cover of April's InStyle, and inside the magazine she chats about some of the issues facing working moms that she describes in greater detail in her new book Bossypants.

Tina Fey is on the cover of April's InStyle, and inside the magazine she chats about some of the issues facing working moms that she describes in greater detail in her new book Bossypants. She spoke about the challenges of balancing her career with raising her 5-year-old daughter, Alice, and touched on an instance where Gwyneth Paltrow mentioned something similar only to receive a barrage of nasty comments. Tina balanced those heavier topics with some of her characteristic wit in the article, saying of Alice, "Kids are definitely the boss of you. Anyone who will barge into the room while you are on the commode is the boss of you. And when you explain to them that you're on the commode and that they should leave but they don't? That's a high-level boss." It's certainly just a taste of what's to come in Tina's book, which is available next month. So, tell us — are you excited to read Bossypants?

January Jones, the face of Versace this season, chose a red gown with a plunging neckline by the label for her Golden Globes appearance. “I had seen the dress at the runway show in another color and I got it in red,” the Mad Men star said of her look, which featured fringe strands from top to bottom. So what was the original hue for this gown? An eye-popping cyan blue, first spotted at the brand’s spring 2011 runway show (shown).

We're thrilled to present InStyle's exciting, exclusive story here on Fab!

All eyes will be on our February cover girl Natalie Portman in the coming months. The actress (and new face of Miss Dior Cherie) is nominated for a Best Actress Golden Globe for her role in Black Swan and she recently announced that she was engaged and pregnant with choreographer Benjamin Millepied, who she met on the set of the film. “This is the most private of private experiences,” Portman told InStyle. “But I am completely awed by the whole process we are living through. I cannot express how lucky I feel.” Next up, she’s starring in the romantic comedy No Strings Attached alongside Ashton Kutcher, out January 21st. But are women really capable of no-strings attached sex? “I certainly have friends who could deal with that and others who could not,” she said. “It’s something I’ve seen in high-achieving women—they compartmentalize. You’ve got your work, your friends, your exercise, and your sex. [Grins.] You can tick off those boxes.” For more of our exclusive interview with Portman, check out the February issue of InStyle, on newsstands Friday!

Natalie Portman posed for the February cover of InStyle before the exciting news of her engagement and pregnancy. She accessorized her award season-ready red dress with a large silver cuff for the shoot though noticeably absent from her left ring finger was the sparkly new diamond ring that she proudly debuted last week at the People's Choice Awards. The No Strings Attached actress sat down with the magazine to chat about romance, Black Swan, and what she looks for in a man. Here's more:

  • What she looks for in a partner: "I look for all the same things I would in a friend. Obviously, you need the sexual attraction too, so it's like your best friend who you are also really attracted to."
  • If she could go unrecognized for a day, what would she do? "I would make out in the park! [Laughs.] That's the thing I would most enjoy doing in New York, and it's something I'll never do. I'd also have loud, public conversations with my friends about personal things. Even if no one is paying attention—and most of the time, no one cares—you never know who is at the next table."
  • Natalie on the concept of "friends with benefits:" "I certainly have friends who could deal with that and others who could not. . . It’s something I’ve seen in high-achieving women—they compartmentalize. You’ve got your work, your friends, your exercise, and your sex. [Grins.] You can tick off those boxes."

Emily Blunt attended the premiere of Gulliver's Travels in Hollywood over the weekend in a color-block dress by Roksanda Ilincic. The look featured an aquamarine top, which was perfectly offset by the attached tan skirt and a sliver of amethyst purple at the waist. Other celebrities are loving the way a beige skirt looks with a bright top, too: Kim Kardashian wore a sequined petal skirt with a ruby cowl neck blouse in London a few months ago, and Blake Lively wore a vibrant blue top by Gypsy 05 with a tan skort by Wayne on Gossip Girl this season. See more examples here.

Our January Cover Girl Is . . . Gwyneth Paltrow!

We're thrilled to present our favorite InStyle story here on Fab!

We're thrilled to present our favorite InStyle story here on Fab!
Gwyneth Paltrow showed off her singing voice by guest-starring on Glee this season, but turns out, that was only a warm-up! The Oscar-winning actress, GOOP.com editor, mother of two and our January cover girl turned herself into a full-blown singer for her role in the upcoming movie Country Strong, in theaters January 7th. “I’ve never prepared for anything more in my life,” Paltrow told us. “There was studying with an accent coach, learning to play guitar, and of course the singing. My voice didn’t have any power or strength at all, and I wanted to try and sing properly.” And she’s proud of how it turned out: “You know, last night when I was watching the film, I thought, This is the best job I’ve ever done,” she said. “Normally I can’t stand to see myself, but with this film I felt like it all came together, all that hard work and putting myself in such an uncomfortable position where I felt so scared of how I was going to do it. I’m happy with how it turned out. I am.” For more of our exclusive interview with Paltrow, check out the January issue of InStyle, on newsstands Friday.
