Along with the excitement and glamour that come with getting dressed for the Met Gala, we imagine each star also feels a certain amount of fear. Not only is there the pressure of dressing on theme and being judged by Anna Wintour and the style elite, but mounting the museum's famed staircase is no small feat when you're outfitted in a sprawling ball gown or restrictive couture. Not to mention the fact that underneath the dress, each guest is also sporting a pair of heels, making the climb ever more treacherous.

Needless to say that the trek up the Met Gala stairs makes the few steps to the Oscars podium seem like a cakewalk (sorry, Jennifer Lawrence). So, with that in mind, we're paying homage to the style stars who've battled their hemlines and trains, sometimes with a little help from a friend, all in the name of fashion.
