The next day, Kors delivered on that promise with a caftan that really would look good on everyone, cut from a slightly sheer ocelot print and decorated with a sprinkling of sequins for added glamour. The rest of the collection, called Palm Springs Modern, was created in a muted color palette of white, black, and tan, with splashes of blue, pink, and animal prints mixed in. Shapes from the '70s get updated here: Flared, tailored trousers skimmed the floor, and so did a number of colorblocked maxi dresses.
But because Resort collections have to provide something for lounging poolside in Palm Springs and something warm enough to wear on the tarmac at JFK, Kors included a warm pink sweater, a fur vest, and a few leopard-print coats for good measure.
What's it like being a well-known fashion designer? At last night's CFDA Awards, Michael Kors said he likes the "nice notoriety" of his fame, and said he was thankful he doesn't have to deal with paparazzi. He and his date, supermodel Karolina Kurkova, also shared what they plan on doing — and not doing — over the Summer.
Mary-Kate Olsen and her sister Elizabeth Olsen joined Miranda Kerr, Nicole Richie, and other celebs in turning heads on the red carpet at last night's CFDA Awards in NYC. Fashion editor Justin Fenner was there to interview the designers being honored at the annual gala, and he gives us the inside scoop on what took place. Hear what Michael Kors, Zac Posen, and more find special about the CFDA Awards — plus, find out how Hillary Clinton stole the show!
Thanks to Twitter, even if you weren't actually at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall for the 2013 CFDA Awards, it was't hard to imagine yourself among fashion's finest. With live tweets supplementing the action inside the ceremony, social media let us all be the proverbial fly on the wall. And in honor of this evening's live-feed tell-all, we're rounding up the very best bits, each in 140 characters or fewer.
At tonight's CFDA Fashion Awards, Michael Kors wanted no one mistaking his dates — he dressed them both in eye-catching, light-reflecting metallic-silver looks. Karolina Kurkova looked extra leggy in a Resort 2014 shorts suit, while Cody Horn picked a Fall 2013 crystal-encrusted peplum dress with train. Both finished things off with the same pair of simple silver python sandals. While the women posed together, assuring us there was no actual style fight afoot, we can't help but want to crown a champion . . . so tell us: which silver Michael Kors look is your favorite?
