Emily Ratajkowski's Cockroach Nails Are Eerily Realistic

Move over, vagina manicures — cockroach nails may be the next emerging trend, unfortunately. In her recent cover shoot for HommeGirls volume 9 that released on May 4, Emily Ratajkowski showed off several creative nail looks, one of which featured an eerily realistic 3D bug. Wearing a ripped vintage T-shirt and Miu Miu skirt, the model held up her middle finger to her tongue, drawing attention to the massive motif on her nail. Slicked-back hair and smoky green blue shadow, created by hairstylist Evanie Frausto and makeup artist Yumi Lee, respectively, added an extra edge to her overall look.

Nail artist Alex Smith at GBY Beauty was responsible for Ratajkowski's unique manicure, which she hand sculpted and painted for the photo shoot, right on set. Smith filed Ratajkowski's long extensions into an almond shape and painted them a stark white shade, adding a large roach charm as an accent nail. Complete with antennae and all of its little legs, Smith's artwork was incredibly detailed, so much so that we're warning you, a close look may give you chills. In another shot, Ratajkowski wore a much more palatable set of nails, a hot-pink jelly manicure with adorable bows on each finger.

While minimalist, barely there manicures seem to have dominated the scene this past year, 3D motifs and intricate nail art have also become a popular choice among celebrities as of late. Just last month, Christina Aguilera debuted sculpted vagina nails while promoting her new line of personal lubricants, causing interest in the design to skyrocket.
