Gisele Bündchen's Met Gala Hair is "Quintessential Gisele"

We last saw model Gisele Bündchen stun on the Met Gala red carpet in 2019, when she stepped out in a blush-colored metallic Dior gown, pink-toned makeup, and a sleek straight hairstyle with a middle part — a Met Gala beauty look that leaned more effortless. With this year's theme of "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty", Bündchen is taking it back to the early 2000s, with a classic Chanel gown from its spring/summer 2007 collection and her signature beach waves to match.

Her hairstylist behind the look, David Von Cannon, tells POPSUGAR, "We went for a quintessential Gisele, accentuated by a beautiful natural wave." He used a healthy amount of texture spray, as well as the Olivia Garden Titanium + Ion Professional 1.25" Curling Iron ($100), to create the perfect bend and "enhance some of the waves." To get that effortless, beachy wave look, Von Cannon tells us that he used his fingers and water to mimic that natural texture. "We really focused on the process of wetting the hair and re-drying it to bring out the maximum texture as desired...Adding in the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Glossy Nourishing Hair Oil ($34) after is perfect because it adds shine to emphasize that texture without weighing it down," he says.

Von Cannon and Bündchen worked together for her previous Met Gala looks as well, including 2010's "American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity," 2014's "Charles James: Beyond Fashion," and 2018's "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination."

To finish the look, makeup artist Georgi Sandev used Chanel to create a no-makeup look. "I was truly inspired by Gisele's incredible natural glow, which is so pure and captivating," Sandev says in a press release. "To complement [her dress] in the best way, we would have to keep the beauty look fresh and slightly undone, so the complete image is modern and cool."
