Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens Share the Sweet Meaning Behind Their Matching Tattoos

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens officially tied the knot during a courthouse ceremony in Houston. Following their April 21 wedding announcement, Biles hosted an Instagram Stories Q&A to answer fan questions about the ceremony and share details about their upcoming destination wedding. During the session, Biles revealed that she and Owens have matching "444" tattoos as a tribute to their shared love and commitment.

"We have matching 444 tats."

"Any matching tattoos on the way?" a follower asked in Biles's DMs. "We have matching 444 tats," she replied, alongside a black heart emoji. The "444" trend refers to the "angel number," a symbol of guidance in numerology. While the significance of these numbers varies from person to person, "444" is typically a marker of an important milestone like a wedding or a reminder of strength, courage, passion, ambition, protection, and spiritual guidance.

Biles didn't reveal how long ago she and Owens sat for their joint tattoo appointment or where their tattoos are located, but she did share the personal symbolism behind their "444" ink. "4better, 4worse, 4ever," she wrote, indicating that the tattoos are a nod to their wedding vows and love for one another.

The romantic ink marks the sixth known addition to Biles's tattoo collection. In 2017, she got her first tattoo, a set of interlaced Olympic rings in black along her right forearm. She has since added an "XO" tattoo to her inner lip; a "1997" tattoo above her elbow, commemorating her birth year; the words "And still I rise" to her collarbone, a nod to the Maya Angelou poem of the same name; and the word "Golden" written in cursive on her inner left wrist.

Sharing an equally strong appreciation for ink, Owens has an entire sleeve of tattoos down his left arm, including a scroll on his shoulder and a realistic football over his elbow. Owens's forearm also features the St. Louis cityscape, as well as The Gateway Arch and the city's area code as a tribute to his hometown.

The newlyweds aren't the first celebrity couple to get matching tattoos. In February, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas shared the meaning behind their coordinated ink designs. Additional married duos with shared body art include Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, Justin and Hailey Bieber, and Stephen and Ayesha Curry.
