This year's Oscars was hands down one of my favorites to watch. The red carpet was full of stunning ensembles and even better beauty moments, from Danielle Brooks's nails to Margot Robbie's sleek hair. One of my favorite beauty looks was Zendaya's bouncy bob, which was achieved using T3's Volumizing Hot Rollers Luxe ($140). "Starting with clean damp hair, I mixed and emulsified Joico's Dream Blowout and Defy Damage Protective Shield to create a protective barrier before shaping and styling the hair with T3 Hot rollers," hairstylist Tai Simon tells PS of the look in a press release.

I've tried hot rollers in the past, back when they went viral on TikTok, but it's been a minute since I've retrieved them from the back of my beauty cabinet. If anything could convince me to whip them out, it was Zendaya. So I decided to dust them off, give them ago, and share the results. Honestly — I'm glad I did.

What I Like About the T3 Volumizing Hot Rollers Luxe

I've tested other hot rollers in the past, but they didn't reach a high enough temperature for my hair, which meant that the curls didn't hold or last as long. I like that these hot rollers have two heat settings, and the lower one is sufficient for styling my hair.

They give me lots of volume at the roots, and the results last for hours, even without using a hairspray or volumizing product. These are also great because I can throw them on while I'm working or doing my makeup, saving me a bunch of time getting ready.

How to Use the T3 Volumizing Hot Rollers Luxe

The brand recommends using the 1 3/4" rollers for volume and body, while the 1 1/2" rollers are good for creating soft waves. There are quite a few ways you can use the combination of different sizes, and the brand has a few tutorials on its website that include easy-to-follow videos.

Personally, I like to start out by dividing my hair into three sections. On the bottom section, I split my hair into two, use the smaller rollers curling toward my face, and clip it using the no-crease clips included with the set. Then, I take down the middle section and use the last two small rollers. For the top section, I divide it into four pieces: my front bangs, the area at the crown of my head, and the two pieces that frame my face. For the two pieces around my face, I position the rollers inward, curling toward my face. For my bangs and the area at the crown of my head, I roll away from my face. I find that this technique gives me the most volume at the roots.

I like to keep them in for 15 minutes to let them set, and then another 15 minutes once they're no longer hot to allow the hair to cool in place.

What to Consider Before Trying the T3 Volumizing Hot Rollers Luxe

One thing to note is that although these hot rollers have an insulated rim to make handling easier, I still find them to be quite hot. I have a glove that I used with a curling wand in the past, and I ended up slipping that onto my hand to make gripping the rollers easier after they've reached temperature. Otherwise, I find that I have to let them cool a little before I can touch them.
