On Scheduling Quality Time Together:
"It's always a blast that we get to do love together," Russell said. Ciara went on to add that she and Russell — who are both inundated with busy work schedules — make a point of getting enough quality time together by setting a rule that they can't spend more than five days apart, which doesn't include the time they spend working on their joint fashion brands, fragrances, and charities. "When we first met, it was 14 days," Russell said. "Then it was 10 days. And now it's no more than seven or five. I don't know, it may be really five days at this point."

On Navigating Their Busy Lives:
As a starting quarterback in the NFL and Grammy award-winning musical sensation, respectively, Russell and Ciara don't often have a lot of free time, but they find a way to make it work. When they aren't together in person, they're FaceTiming or sticking to their Friday date night schedule. To keep in touch, the couple put an emphasis on communication, checking in with each other regularly with words like, "This week's going to be a challenging week, babe, because I've got this responsibility. What about you? What do you have?'" Russell said. "And at the end of every week, we always go through a checklist of questions of, you know, 'How'd I love you this week?'"

On Being a Blended Family:
When he's not at home, Russell sets reminders on his phone to send inspirational videos to their daughter Sienna and son Future from Ciara's previous relationship with rapper Future. "Our family is a beautiful blended family but it's also, you know, our family . . . it's us," Russell said. "The reality of being a stepparent is that biologically they're not necessarily yours, but the reality is that you have to love them as if they are. They're your own blood in a way. You get to love them that way."

On Fans Thinking They Have a Perfect Relationship:
"It speaks for the power of love," Ciara said when asked what she thinks about fans referring to them as the "perfect" couple or "relationship goals." "I feel like, if I could look back in a crystal ball when I was a little girl and I looked at the idea of my family and what it would be for me, it's exactly this," she added.

But the highs of such a wonderful relationship don't come without lows. "It takes a lot of responsibility to do it. Winning is a habit, you know? And nothing happens by accident," Russell said. As far as he's concerned, the hard work and scheduling is beyond worth the time he gets to spend with his wife. "We're just grateful that we get to spend time together every day," he said. "Every morning we wake up together it's a blessing . . . It's easy to love C — every day I get to love her and take care of her and our kids is the greatest gift I have. So I cherish that every day."
