Beyoncé's "Renaissance" Tour Movie Hits Theaters in December — Here's What to Know

When Beyoncé hit the road this year to tour her critically acclaimed "Renaissance" album, no one could've predicted what the mind-blowing, one-of-a-kind stage experience she'd deliver from Europe to North America would be like. In case you were an onlooker watching all the fun through social media clips because you missed out on snagging tickets, you're in luck. Beyoncé's "Renaissance" tour is heading to a theater near you in December, and we have all the details you need to know.

After much speculation, Beyoncé confirmed a concert movie, titled "Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé," in the wee hours of Oct. 2, when she dropped its sweeping trailer (because we know she loves announcing big news late at night). "Be careful what you ask for, 'cause I just might comply," the icon captioned the clip on Instagram. On Oct. 26, the Grammy-winning singer shared a poster for the movie on Instagram, which sees her dressed in her finest silver "Alien Superstar" garb.

The prospect of a "Renaissance" movie sent fans buzzing on Sept. 30, when Variety reported that Beyoncé was in final talks to have a film based on her multimillion-dollar tour distributed directly through AMC Theatres. According to the outlet, she's been developing the project for years, much like her last album, which came together during the COVID-19 pandemic. The forthcoming concert film is expected to include a documentary-style account of the making of "Renaissance" and its tour, as well as parts of the visual album and Beyoncé's 2023 live shows.

Per the trailer, fans will also get a glimpse of Beyoncé's children — including Blue Ivy Carter, who joined her on tour. The film will follow "the journey of the 'Renaissance' World Tour, from its inception, to the opening in Stockholm, Sweden, to the finale in Kansas City, Missouri," according to the movie's website. "It is about Beyoncé's intention, hard work, involvement in every aspect of the production, her creative mind and purpose to create her legacy, and master her craft."

Per praise from critics and fans, the "Renaissance" tour rose to extraordinary acclaim in its five-month run, creating a "sanctuary for freedom and shared joy" for millions of fans (and celebrities) along the way.
