Bodysuits are having quite the moment this summer — and rightly so. While the staple certainly isn't new to mainstream fashion, it's seen a particular resurgence throughout 2022 — with more people embracing bodysuits beyond the limits of athleisure wear and incorporating them into everything from figure-hugging nighttime 'fits to casual, work-from-home styles and beyond.

Even in my own wardrobe, few pieces have proven to be more versatile or flattering than a bodysuit. But for as much as I love the style, I'm often skeptical about whether the piece is durable enough to keep up with my busy lifestyle — especially if I am ordering it online and can't feel out the material beforehand.

So when I heard that Free People and The Class were teaming up to release an exclusive collection together (made up of fan-favorite pieces in fresh, new colorways), I knew I had to try out the FP Movement x The Class Free Throw Bodysuit ($50) to see if the high-quality piece was really worth the hype — and versatile enough to become a staple in my summer wardrobe (spoiler: it absolutely was!).

Read on for my honest review of this cozy Free People bodysuit.

What I Love About This Free People Bodysuit

Aside from its ultracomfy fit and relaxed look, I love that this bodysuit also has an elegant, polished flair that makes it super easy to dress up beyond just a workout. Whether I'm styling it with a distressed pair of denim or layering it with a structured blazer, the bodysuit provides so much outfit versatility — making it a really sound investment piece.

Not only is the Free Throw Bodysuit style timeless, but it doubles as a great transitional piece, too, meaning you can sport it all throughout the summer season and also wear it well into the fall (paired with the right cardigan or blazer, of course).

What's Worth Noting

This particular beige colorway (aptly referred to as "turtledove" on Free People's site) is included in the The Class x Free People Movement collaboration, meaning it's a limited-edition version of the brand's popular Free Throw bodysuit. In other words: if you like this specific style, you'll want to get shopping ASAP before it's too late!

The bodysuit also works as a slip-in style, rather than one with a button latch on the thong, which means you have less flexibility to adjust the suit's look for a more snug fit. I'd recommend double-checking Free People's sizing guide to ensure you purchase the perfect size for you and your body type.

And perhaps the most important thing to note: the price. Unlike some of the other internet-loved bodysuit styles out there, this piece definitely boasts a heftier price tag — but for good reason. The Free Throw bodysuit is made from a ribbed fabrication that's durable without being too heavy or restricting. It's also made specifically for medium-impact workouts, so I can trust that the bodysuit will keep me feeling supported in any environment without fear of it tearing or loosening up too much from movement.

Even if you're on a tight shopping budget, I'd still argue that this bodysuit is well worth the extra splurge (trust me!).

And it has me eager (or at least hoping) to see more fun fashion collaborations between Free People and The Class.
