Princess Beatrice's Engagement Ring Is Incredible — and Designed by Her Fiancé

Princess Beatrice is engaged! Buckingham Palace confirmed on Thursday morning that the pair got engaged in Italy in early September. Along with the official announcement from Buckingham Palace on the royal family Twitter account, the couple released three adorable photos that were (even more adorably) taken by Princess Eugenie.

The 31-year-old wore a forest-green floral Zimmermann dress, accessorized with a Cartier Juste un Clou bracelet for the occasion. But of course, it was the ring that caught our attention. Designed by Beatrice's fiancé, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and created by London-based jeweler Shaun Leane, the ring features a larger round diamond in the center, flanked by two baguette diamonds on either side, with a reported approximate cost of £100,000 ($123,000).

We can't help but notice the likeness between Beatrice's beautiful ring and Queen Elizabeth II's engagement ring. With a similar cut and design, we wonder whether Edoardo drew inspiration from Beatrice's grandmother. Only time will tell if the soon-to-be-bride similarly takes inspiration from the royal family when it comes to her wedding dress — either way, we can't wait to see what she chooses.

Ahead, get a closer look at Princess Beatrice's ring.
