Tanya Taylor Made a Fashion Week Video With Her Loyal Celebrity Clients, Reminding Us to Vote

While many of the celebrities in Tanya Taylor's voter registration New York Fashion Week video are usually sitting in her front row ready to enjoy a fashion show, or wearing her clothes on the red carpet, 2020 is different. This season, designers are coming up with new ways to reveal their collections to the public or even nixing the clothes altogether for the sake of sending one very important message. Tanya Taylor's is an encouragement to vote. In partnership with Fashion Our Future 2020, she and producer Evan Jonigkeit brought a video campaign to life.

Taylor invited her friends and clients from the worlds of politics, comedy, fashion, and sports — Mindy Kaling, Hillary Clinton, Zosia Mamet, Brother Vellies' Aurora James, and Iskra Lawrence, to name a few — to participate in a short film that filled her show slot on the calendar. The compilation is a series of clips where we see these famous public figures performing mundane, everyday activities, from making a sandwich to watering plants, that take more time than it does to register to vote. The reel will be posted on Tanya's website, as well as across her social media platforms leading up to the Nov. 3 election.

This marks the first time Tanya Taylor, as a brand, has dedicated its Fashion Week time slot to a social issue rather than a new line. But if you love Tanya's clothes like we do, not to worry — spring 2021 will make its debut in January instead, just weeks before it launches in stores. "There are a lot of eyes on us during NYFW and I feel it is my responsibility to use the platform I have within the industry to speak up and encourage positive change at such an important time in our lives. Our community of strong, empowered women are the heart of our brand, and as always, we aim to empower them and lift up their voices, this time through civic action and voting," Taylor stated in a press release.
