Showstoppers: The Sexiest Looks to Hit the Met Gala

There's no denying it: the Met Gala red carpet debuted some of the sexiest dresses we've seen this year.

There's no denying it: the Met Gala red carpet debuted some of the sexiest dresses we've seen this year. We're talking thigh-high slits, sheer insets, lacy finishes, plunging necklines, and even some corsets and harnesses (the theme of this year's bash was punk, after all). From Constance Jablonski's hand-crafted golden Wes Gordon gown to a serious display of skin from Miranda Kerr in Michael Kors and Anja Rubik's moto-inspired red leather Anthony Vaccarello mini, our favorite starlets and models weren't afraid to show just how sexy this year's theme could be. What's the point of punk if you can't push the envelope a little, anyway?

Presenting Anja Rubik, in the Look of Our Fashion-Week Dreams

Our requirements for a Fashion Week outfit are simple enough: we want to appear cool and polished with a hint of the trends — and all without trying too hard.

Our requirements for a Fashion Week outfit are simple enough: we want to appear cool and polished with a hint of the trends — and all without trying too hard. OK, it's a pretty tall order, but it can be done — and effortlessly so — as evidenced by Anja Rubik. The supermodel took to the streets in a perfect blend of textures, prints, and staples that doesn't short on the wow factor — but doesn't go overboard, either. The trick is easy proportions: the classic fit of her denim button-down mirrors the fit of a staple white blouse, but provides a trendier update. Likewise, her printed trousers offer a newer take on regular blue jeans, but maintain the same silhouette of our go-to denim. It's these simple swaps that add up to a more eye-catching effect, while complements like a pair of pointed-toe pumps and a sleek bit of outerwear are a little more under the radar, but elevate the ensemble with a nod to the chicest kind of closet essentials. If your plans don't include Fashion Week, we can still think of about a hundred other places to wear this Anja-inspired style — shop it for yourself below.

Shop clockwise from top left: 3.1 Phillip Lim Evening Coat ($900, originally $1,800), Club Monaco Tatumn Denim Shirt ($140), Paige Skyline Stripe Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans ($289), Zara Pointed Court Shoe ($90), Vanessa Mooney Site of Day Necklace ($150), Orit Silver Detail Necklace ($142), Rebecca Minkoff Tweed Impulse Clutch ($193, originally $275)

Anja Rubik For Saint Laurent | Spring 2013 Pictures

Hedi Slimane is putting the five years he spent as a photographer to good use in his new job at Saint Laurent. He recently released images of Anja Rubik wearing clothing from his Spring 2013 collection on the newly revamped YSL.com. And while the clothes — including a slimmed-down take on Le Smoking — pay homage to the house's founder, the photos themselves are all Slimane. Rubik is captured in black and white, posing in rooms adorned with classic French architectural details. But the juxtaposition of old-world style and Rubik's New Age attitude are what make these images modern — and very Saint Laurent. A look at Slimane's photography here in the gallery (NSFW).
