Today, Kanye West and Maroon 5 were announced as the show's musical guests. Notably, Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine's girlfriend, Anne Vyalitsyna, is confirmed to walk in the show, and West's rumored girlfriend Chanel Iman — who recently closed his debut womenswear show at a day's notice — will also walk as one of the Victoria's Secret Angels.

Speaking of Angels, this year's lineup seems curiously devoid of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, throwing into question whether she will be walking at all — or just walking without wings. Miranda Kerr, Chanel Iman, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Doutzen Kroes, Candice Swanepoel, Erin Heatherton, Lily Aldridge, Behati Prinsloo, and Lindsay Ellingson, however, are all expected.

The show airs on CBS on Nov. 29 at 10/9 CST. A few sketches of this year's costumes, in the slideshow.

As Neophitou told Style.com of casting the show: “It’s such an editorial level . . . We looked at girls we love to shoot editorially; that’s what great. I think there’s a perception before you get here of what will work. But the reality is, it’s about the girl, it’s about the woman, what she brings as a human being to it, rather than has she got a size 34C cup. No, it’s not about that at all. That’s what they’ve got the miracle bras for.”

Brazilians were heavily favored as usual this year, with Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Isabeli Fontana, Izabel Goulart, Flavia Oliveira, Lais Ribeiro, Fabiana Semprebom, Emanuela de Paula, Gracie Carvalho, and Martha Streck all representing; 10 Brazilians out of the 33 total models. Lais Ribeiro, Jacquelyn Jablonski, Lily Donaldson, and Heloise Guerin all walked for Victoria's Secret for the first time today, but it was Angel Adriana Lima who opened the show, riding a twirling carousel to make her debut in the first, "Tough Love"-themed segment (She and Karolina Kurkova both made their return after skipping last year's show while pregnant.). It was the first of many minor obstacles the 33 models had to maneuver through during the show, all while smiling and waving to the crowd. In the sporty "Game On" segment, while twirling her ribbon stick, Izabel Goulart, got the ribbon stuck around her neck and had to untangle herself; Candice Swanepoel estimated her "Heavenly Bodies" wings weighed half of her body weight — "It’s like driving a car because they’re so far away from my body. I have to turn them before I turn my body. It’s an honor to get them. I told my trainer, ‘You better prepare me for this! We’ve been doing some extra push ups!’”; Anja Rubik, too, had expansive wings in the "Heavenly Bodies" — turning at the end of the runway with all those streamers deserved applause in itself; and in the final, "Pink Planet" segment, mylar balloon rained the runway from above, causing Maryna Linchuk and Jacquelyn Jablonski to have to kick them out of the way to get down the runway.

But there was plenty of fun to be had — Isabeli Fontana, who closed out the "Game On" segment, hammed it up for the cameras with her dumbbell prop, and Lily Aldridge had the support of her fiance Caleb Followill and the rest of Kings of Leon, front row. In the next section over, Anne V's boyfriend Adam Levine and the rest of Maroon 5 gave her a standing ovation as she made her first runway appearance — which Anne rewarded with a blown kiss.

Akon and Katy Perry both performed — him appropriately singing "Angel," and her singing "Teenage Dream" for the younger, Victoria's Secret Pink-themed segment. And Chanel Iman closed the show in bubble wings with a bubble-squirting gun. The final cut airs Nov. 30 on CBS.

The first few costume images have popped up (Lily Aldridge's two looks can be seen here), and we've got a few confirmed names to add to the list: among them, Selita Ebanks, Katsia Damenkova, Anne Vyalitsyna (who's getting her first wings this year), Constance Jablonski, Gracie Carvalho, Lily Donaldson, and Lais Ribeiro.

There's also a new casting video out, and Ed Razek, chief marketing officer of Limited Brands, parent company of Victoria's Secret, admits of the process: "I hate castings, because I’m basically a softy and I hate the broken hearts and I hate saying no . . . What people don’t realize is that [those who fit the parameters of a Victoria's Secret model are] rarer by far than superstar athletes. The numbers of people who can do this are probably under 100 in the world. And in the show, it’s only [33] girls.”

And the castings — which Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou and Dan May of Harper’s Bazaar UK and 10 Magazine have a say in as stylists — are tough. Maryna Linchuk had to audition again this year, despite walking in the show in the past, because bodies change, Monica Mitro, executive producer of the show, said. “You don’t see them for a minute, and . . . ” she added, holding her hands wide to gesture for broad hips. But some faults are more forgivable than others — when Caroline Winberg walked in to casting, with hair described by the New York Times as "frazzled by styling until it was the texture of wood shavings," Mitro stated: “Never mind the hair . . . we can always do something about the hair."

And while she brought back some of those "curvier" girls for Giles again this season — Alessandra Ambrosio, Ana Beatriz Barros, Anne Vyalitsyna, Noemie Lenoir, plus Sports Illustrated models Jessica Hart, Abbey Clancy (who is pregnant), and Julie Ordon — also peppered in were Agyness Deyn, who shaved her hair into a mohawk for the show, Amber Le Bon, British model and TV presenter Kelly Brook, and 71-year-old Veruschka, who closed the show.

Grand is working with Giles Deacon on his debut collection for Emanuel Ungaro this season — so surely the cast will be special for that occasion — although the only hint that came is not model-related: Deacon is working with edgy London label Sibling on knits for the show. And as for Vuitton, all Grand would say was: “[Marc Jacobs] said, ‘I’ve got all these beautiful clothes for Vuitton — what on earth are we going to do with them?’”

Zac Posen's Fall 2010 Answer to His Growing Pains: Out with the Gowns, In with the Minidresses

>> After the New York Times article two weeks ago extensively covering Zac Posen's recent financial struggles, needless to say, eyes were peeled this morning bright and early at the Altman building for Posen's Fall 2010 plan of attack. Glenda Bailey, which the aforementioned article noted was not in attendance at Posen's show last season after they had a confrontation last April, was front row this time around, as were Posen's advertising photog Ellen von Unwerth, Patricia Field, Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington, Joe Zee, and Robbie Myers.

As the lights dimmed and runway photographers scrambled for their places, Israeli "hip-hop violinist" Miri Ben-Ari stepped from backstage to the left side of the runway, where she played her electric violin throughout the show, backed by a thumping bass.  Despite the fact that Posen is still going with a pared-down runway in general, the performance added the energy of his elaborate productions of yore.  The models, too — including Alek Wek, Hana Soukupova, Anne Vyalitsyna, Posen's muse Anna Cleveland, and Coco Rocha, who closed — were clearly told to smile and work the runway; Sessilee Lopez, hands on her waist, swung her hips with satisfaction.  Posen's boyfriend, Christopher Niquet, styled the show.

The clothes, however, were telltale that Posen is making an effort to resituate himself: there were none of his signature gowns whatsoever.  In their place, short skirts with flounce, '40-style trousers, and plenty of fur. "I'm playing with clean fabrications and upping the luxury level," he said backstage after taking his bow with Rocha and Kinee Diouf.
