The 2013 Billboard Music Awards red carpet was red hot, with Selena Gomez leading the pack. The singer was one of the first to arrive — and she did so in an eye-catching neon-infused Atelier Versace gown from the label's Spring '13 collection. Also in the mix? Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Chloë Moretz, Hayden Panettiere, and a very sexy Jennifer Morrison. Of course, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Selena Gomez and Versace are turning out to be a red-carpet match made in heaven. While the brunette beauty started wearing the label's younger-skewed line Versus for performances several years ago, Gomez has graduated to racier ready-to-wear looks from Versace and jaw-dropping couture from Atelier Versace over the past year. From her Atelier Versace white, neon-accented gown at the 2013 Billboard Awards to the Atelier Versace pinstripe suit with gold detailing that she wore to the Berlin premiere of Spring Breakers (you have to see the open back!) to the nude Atelier Versace number she chose for the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty to that Versace LWD with silver detailing at the Hotel Transylvania premiere, we can't get enough of the pairing. >> Atelier Versace kicked off couture week with a star-studded front row, a supermodel-packed runway, and their first couture offering since 2004. Karlie Kloss, Lindsey Wixson, Arizona Muse, Karmen Pedaru, and Josephine Skriver were among those who modeled the 15-look collection, which was heavy on corseted metallic gowns, hot orange and lime minidresses, and futuristic detailing. "You know I’m a sucker for anything glittery," commented Cameron Diaz, who — along with Diane Kruger, Abbie Cornish, and Anna Dello Russo — attended the show.

Nothing could kick-start Couture Fashion Week quite like Atelier Versace's confident return to the ring after an eight-year hiatus. Donatella Versace presented the label's couture collection for the first time since 2004, marking its resurrection in signature brights and distinctly sexy silhouettes. All the elements we've come to rely on from a Versace collection were present — curve-hugging bodices, brilliant statement color, leg-revealing hemlines — and like any good couture collection, there, too, was the element of surprise. The standout, but limited, color palette verged between blinding brights, creamy grays, neutrals, and a splash of gold. We're treated to all-out sultry silhouettes, then checked with futuristic-feeling detail. Laser cuts and lace feel at once delicate and fierce, like the glamorous gold heels made tougher with buckled shin guards. The collection was sexy, but not without substance — just the way we like our leading ladies who will wear it.

>> Versace just released images of its Fall 2011 Atelier Versace couture collection. Teal fur chubbies, vintage Versace prints pulled back out of the archives for voluminous skirts, and metallic minidresses printed with "I heart Versace" populate the offering, which also includes the dress Katy Perry recently wore to the MTV VMAs.
