Get in Gear: Ogio Basic Tote

I have a thing for gym bags, I guess that is what happens when you spend a lot of time at the gym.

I have a thing for gym bags, I guess that is what happens when you spend a lot of time at the gym. If you're looking for a straight-up gym bag (no frills or bows), then this may be the bag for you...

The Ogio All Terrain Duffel Bag ($44.95) is the ultimate gym bag. One very cool feature is that it has a side shoe pocket with ventilation for your sweaty sneaks to air out. What's also cool about this bag is that it has a fleece-lined top drop-in audio pocket complete with a little spot for your headphone to string through for hands free listening. The bag is pretty big (9 x 23 x 11) so you'll really be able to fit all your gym essentials inside. Buy it from bagking.com.

Will You Carry Your Groceries In Reusable Bags?

Last week the city of San Francisco announced the ban of all plastic grocery bags.

Last week the city of San Francisco announced the ban of all plastic grocery bags. I've always chosen paper over plastic because they don't dig into the tender skins on the palm of your hands and was happy to learn that my choice was also the more environmentally correct option. Then on Saturday when I was making a cake my mom was in the kitchen reading the new Time magazine aloud to me (my family is big on reading aloud) going over the 51 steps we could take to make the world a greener place. Halfway through she mentioned carrying reusable totes as grocery bags and we got to talking about the ban on plastic baggies. Fast forward a few hours and my bff Emily shows up at dinner with a surprise for me. It's called a chicobag, and it's a reusable grocery bag that folds up and fits into a tiny bag that will easily slide unnoticed into your oversized everyday Marc Jacobs purse. I'm really excited about being able to do my part to help save the world from global warming and wonder will you carry your groceries in reusable bags?

Fit Find Faves: Pink for Spring

I really didn't fully embrace the color pink until I gave birth to two lovely girls.

I really didn't fully embrace the color pink until I gave birth to two lovely girls. Babies just look sweet in pink. Seems like pink is a favorite color of Sugar users. Check out these recent Fit Finds of pretty pink things.

I love this hot pink lululemon sports bag that tania found.

This Lesa Wallace Handbags pink bag is not only cute, but 20% of the proceeds go to support breast cancer research. I love a bag that gives back to the world and so does SapphireDiamond.

Big Cozy Cable-Knit...Bags?

By now we know that big cozy knits are a wardrobe must for Fall 2006.

By now we know that big cozy knits are a wardrobe must for Fall 2006. But did you know that they are a handbag must too? Apparently even arm candy gets cold in winter, because cable-knit purses are popping up everywhere. Although they seem like they'd be hard to keep clean, I actually really like them and hope to add one to my wardrobe very soon!

Here a few of my picks:

Bally, Dorilly Wool and Studded Leather Bag, $795, not available online, call 212-751-9082 for availability

Margaret Nicole Cable Knit Tote, $265, Available here

bubble bubble toil and trouble

>>  Up, up, and aweeeeee!  This balloon dress (or puffball or bubble or pouf or tulip or egg dress) has so much volume, you might have to tether yourself down to keep from getting whipped up in the wind.  And the shape is most definitely reminiscent of that seen on the Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter runway -- a shape that has had to grow on me.  But it's all funky, and egg-shapey, and me likey.

Kate_1 >>  So after all the back and forth will she or won't she, looks like Kate Moss is definitely included in that calendar famous for its provocative photographs, the Pirelli Calendar.  J. Lo, Karen Elson, Natalia Vodianova, Gisele Bundchen, and Guinevere Van Seenus are all also featured in the calendar, which made its debut yesterday in Paris.  All the pictures were photographed by Mert and Marcus in the French Riviera.  The rest of the pictures can be viewed here, but be forewarned, there is nudity, hence the calendar's reputation as "provocative."

it's a cinch

>>  So again on the Victorian influence I've been feeling:  their emphasis on the waistline is really starting to filter its way into my dress.  Which is why I've suddenly become obsessed with with these big, wide belts -- corset belts, to be exact.  AMA Handmade has some beautiful waist cinchers (left), and from what I can see, ebay has some interesting stock as well.  Perfect for feminizing that shirt dress we were talking about the other day.  There's another waist-centric accessory that has been intriguing me -- the bustle.  Also Victorian influence, bustles have been in the back of my mind ever since I saw this YSL one in Nylon back in March.  I came across this taffeta belt (right) today at Yoox -- kind of a modern-day bustle.  I'm really tempted, but I'm not sure it's a $75-down-the-hole type of temptation.  I guess I'll just leave it the decision in limbo for a while more.
