Pleated and folded handbags are popping up all over, and they're kicking the butts of structured purses. I predict this Bally Leather Zip Pocket Slouch Bag ($1,195), which also comes in nude, is going to be the next coveted accessory. Look at it; doesn't it scream the bag to have? I can see Charlize and Gwyneth all over it. It has all the right components — it's buttery, has slick asymmetrical zippers, a braided-slash-chain handle, and the coolest horizontal fold. And, it's Brian Atwood-designed, swoon.
Celebrity Style: Penelope Cruz
Penelope Cruz had dinner with Harvey Weinstein in London, and while the studio head wore a suit, the actress kept it casual in jeans and no makeup. For the intimate occasion, Pene wore Chloe's mini star print blouse. To accessorize, she threw on small silver hoop earrings, a brown leather bag, and platform wedges. A modern take on '70s-inspired pieces — I like.

Fab Finds of the Week: Boot Me Tender
I caught you! You guys are already thinking about Fall. I don't blame you, I'm just as excited. This week's Fab Finds were all about boots, boots, and more boots. There were some lovely finds but I did choose a favorite. The Fab Finder of the week is QueenMargot, because she found this decadent pair of Chloe Equestrian Boots. Giddy up!
Congrats to QueenMargot, jasmint, sibalc, pepper, saddyblue, longhornlass04, and kendallina!
Look of the Day: Tribal Princess
A fuzzy picture doesn't stop me from recognizing style. I've got to give props to jsutt for taking her picture off of a window reflection. She looks like a beautiful tribal princess in her custom-made dress and chunky wooden necklace. Where can I get one of those?
Here's what she has on:
- Dress: Donna
- Belt: Urban Outfitters
- Bag: Bally
- Shoes: Steven by Steve Madden
Congrats to jsutt!

Sneak Peek! Brian Atwood Brings Life to Bally
Many may have the Midas touch, but shoe designer Brian Atwood has the sexy touch . . . and as far as I'm concerned, that's more priceless.
Atwood is now bringing his magic to Bally's women's footwear. The way he sees it, he's providing "fresher, easy luxury." He dug deep into the 157-year-old Bally archives for inspiration. The Spring/Summer collection incorporates metal-framed heels and platforms from the '40s. I'd love to scoop up all of his sexy creations.

Hawaii's World Festival of Fashion
You know a shopping mall is high-end when it has its own Fashion Week. And starting today, the ritzy, 260-store Ala Moana Center in Honolulu is hosting its World Festival: Hawaii’s Fashion Week, which runs through Nov. 5. The 6th annual event includes a few fashion shows but focuses mainly on seriously fashion-focused events.
This sounds like a paradise for fashionistas, and not just because it's taking place in Hawaii. The best part is that World Festival attendees will have the chance to buy a number of special-edition handbags and other haute products, including a MAC Cosmetics silver overnight makeup case. Though these were created in very limited quantities just for the event and are available only in Hawaii, the products are fun to admire as eye candy. Here is a preview of some of the most stunning handbags and other products.
Coach Legacy Satchel in Geranium, $698.

Neiman Marcus 18-inch Farfalle Print Emilio Pucci Neckerchief in Fuschia, Violet, or Sky, $50.

Is There a Doctor in The House?
I have said it before, and I will say it again. There is just something about handbags. Every time I see a beautiful magazine spread or a new display at Neiman Marcus, I get a little too excited. Kind of like a kid in a candy store. These doctor-inspired bags for Fall are no different. I will most likely never buy any of them, but they are just so darn pretty to look at.
Here are a few that are both Inspirational (i.e. unattainable) and Real Life (i.e. hopefully some day attainable).

Big Cozy Cable-Knit...Bags?
By now we know that big cozy knits are a wardrobe must for Fall 2006. But did you know that they are a handbag must too? Apparently even arm candy gets cold in winter, because cable-knit purses are popping up everywhere. Although they seem like they'd be hard to keep clean, I actually really like them and hope to add one to my wardrobe very soon!
Here a few of my picks:
Bally, Dorilly Wool and Studded Leather Bag, $795, not available online, call 212-751-9082 for availability

Margaret Nicole Cable Knit Tote, $265, Available here
