"If you believe in something, you can make it happen," said Burberry's Christopher Bailey during his speech at last night's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award dinner. And for top prize winner Greg Chait of the 5-year-old knitwear label The Elder Statesman, it's all happening.
br>
Chait, who beat much-lauded finalists like Wes Gordon and Suno's Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty, will take home $300,000 to help develop his business. Runners-up Tabitha Simmons and jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer Maguire will each get $100,000. Like past winners, the trio will also be assigned fashion business mentors who will help them grow their respective brands.
br>
Whether they won or not, all 10 of the young companies that were in the running for this year's prize have an exciting few months ahead of them: Nordstrom will open pop-up shops featuring merchandise from the finalists beginning next February, around the same time online retailer The Corner will launch a landing page devoted to the finalists.
br>
And what seemed like most of the American fashion industry turned out last night to offer the winners congratulations. Anna Wintour, J.Crew's Jenna Lyons, and Diane von Furstenberg were there along with the rest of the prize's selection committee, and so were past winners Joseph Altuzarra, Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Billy Reid, and Alexander Wang. Karlie Kloss, sporting her new bob, and her friend Jourdan Dunn walked the red carpet wearing glasses from another one of this year's finalists, Illesteva.
Nordstrom Gets in on the CFDA Fun With Their Own Exclusive Collab
Between Target and now Nordstrom, the CFDA has been getting a lot of mass-market love. Nordstrom has just announced that it has teamed up with the organization to create six pop-up shops to sell a lineup of curated Spring '13 clothing, shoes, and accessories from the 2012 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists: Andrea Lieberman from A.L.C.; Greg Armas from Assembly New York; Sofia Sizzi from Giulietta; Justin Salguero, Daniel Silberman, and Alina Silberman from Illesteva; Jennifer Fisher; Jennifer Meyer; Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty from Suno; Greg Chait from The Elder Statesman; Tabitha Simmons; and Wes Gordon.
The pop-up shop collection will be available in February 2013 at six Nordstrom locations including Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles (The Grove), Chicago, Dallas (Northpark), and Treasure & Bond in NYC. The CFDA is making a big effort to support their up-and-coming designers, and we can't wait to shop this latest collaboration. Are you just as excited?

Step Inside the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Fete at the Chateau Marmont
Yesterday's celebrity gathering at the Chateau Marmont proved a fashion event of A-list proportions. Vogue's West Coast editor, Lisa Love, and the publication's fashion news director, Mark Holgate, played host to a celebrity guest list that included Mandy Moore, Gwen Stefani, and Jennifer Aniston — all who came out to support the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists. The Hollywood set was treated to a runway show with looks from each of the finalists, including Jennifer Meyer, who stepped out in a sweet printed dress and hung with celeb friends like Rachel Zoe. Now, consider this your official invite and check out all the action from the party inside.
Karlie Kloss to Star in Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Campaign
Target and Neiman Marcus have revealed that Karlie Kloss will be the face of the upcoming CFDA Holiday collaboration. According to a spokesperson, the multimedia campaign will be quite "robust" and will span online, print, out of home, TV, and social media, and required Kloss — who was classically trained in ballet — to do a lot of movement. "Her background and familiarity with movement and dance are perfect," the source said.
br>
Kloss isn't the only big name to be involved with the campaign. Quentin Jones — known for his work with Chanel and Victoria Beckham — also worked on the ads, as did photographer Craig McDean, who was responsible for both the still and moving images. Alex White, former fashion director of W, styled the ads, while Orlando Pita was tapped to do hair. "Our goal is to match the unprecedented nature of the collaboration and incredible product being produced to a campaign supporting it," the spokesperson explained. "What's most important is the talent we're putting behind this campaign."

The CFDA Gets Sporty With Its Limited-Edition Collab With the NY Mets
Hot off the heels of its upcoming Target + Neiman Marcus collaboration news — and right in time for baseball season — the CFDA has just announced that it has teamed up with the New York Mets on a limited-edition apparel line to celebrate the Mets' and the CFDA's 50th anniversaries. The collection, designed by Billy Reid, Yigal Azrouel, Loomstate's Scott Hahn and Rogan Gregory, and Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos for Shipley & Halmos, is perfect for the stylish NY Mets fan, featuring a cool range of men's and women's tanks, tees, hoodies, and henleys. "I'm a huge baseball fan," said Billy Reid. "I help coach my son's little league team, and oddly enough our team's name this year is the Mets." The collection drops July 24 online at Edition01.com (but you can preorder it now) and, of course, at Citi Field.
Creatures of the Wind For J.Crew Is Here
Last but certainly not least: Creatures of the Wind's much-anticipated mini collection for J.Crew has finally landed. The collection — the third and final installment of this year's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund capsule series — features four limited-edition pieces inspired by '60s psychedelia and rebellious youth culture. There's a glittery pair of oxford lace-ups ($295), a chambray and floral print zip dress ($350), a boldly striped tee ($195), and — our favorite — a matching cashmere cardigan ($245). "We wanted to design pieces that were totally functional but could add an interesting element to anyone's wardrobe," the designers explained. Click through to see the entire offering, all available now at jcrew.com and at the retailer's 5th Avenue flagship.
