I love seeing Gossip Girl Leighton Meester in something other than her preppy on-screen gear. While she and Blair both have impeccable style, Leighton isn't afraid to let her hair down. The actress attended Shop Til It Stops in NYC decked out in one of her favorite designers, Brian Reyes. The fitted blazer downplays the fanciness while the Stuart Weitzman peep-toe platforms pull it all together with polish. The studded cuff is an expert finishing touch.
The life of the single gal can be lonely. But there are no tears here. Single gal, meet single sleeve. Dramatic, sexy, and ready to party. Just look to Jada (see left) for inspiration. But I'm confused. You loved Alexis Bledel's Mischen one sleeve LBD, but not Maria Sharapova's Lanvin. What gives? Single sleeves for everybody!
A while back I told you the Russian is coming, and now she's here. Kira Plastinina opened her first US boutique in LA, and gaggles of celebs came out to congratulate the teenager. Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, who wore a strapless orange bubble dress and gold Gucci sandals, was among the best dressed attendees. The bright orange hue and gold accessories complement her flawlessly. Props to her for rounding out the look with a black snakeskin clutch instead of matchy matchy gold.
Ombre is beginning to rear its pretty head and while it feels very warm-weathery, I'm already seeking a new ombre addition. I'm still on the fence though — some of these items are dope, while some of them are dull. Here's the dilemma: It's a trendy motif, but only looks good on fine fabrics. Case in point: ombred fur at J. Mendel's Spring '08 show (pictured). Thus, one should seek out an ombre that looks expensive but doesn't break the bank. Ah, the trials and tribulations of fashion . . .
Fab's friend Brittany Snow dressed herself in Jay Godfrey's chiffon frock (the dress is currently sold out but contact Saks for availability) at the Grammy kick-off party. I love the flowy silhouette on her, as well as the gray color: It makes her blue eyes sparkle. She kept her accessories simple, opting to draw attention to her shiny, silver metallic ankle-strap heels. You glow girl!
Dancing With the Stars's most recent winner Julianne Hough arrived at the Enchanted premiere in a fuchsia Jay Godfrey dress. Actress Susan Sarandon's daughter, Eva Amurri, wore the exact dress at the Atonement after party. Julianne exudes trendiness and youth, while Eva appears more sophisticated and serious. I'm leaning towards Eva, but who do you think wore it better?
Another year gone by, another year to come! Every year seems plentiful if you keep your watch on the ever-fickle world of fashion. What was in a year ago is not so in now, in some cases though, trends prevail. This can be interpreted on a personal level too. December is a time to reflect back on the year and think good thoughts; I never think it's healthy to start a new year as a negative Nancy. So let's raise our glasses and kick up our booties in an ode to 2007. Here are some things to get me through the stressful, but blissful, final month of the year.
This New Year's, do like Fergie did in her Jenny Packham sequined dress at the American Music Awards and don a Shiny Stunner. It'll surely turn some heads — in a good way.
Because sequin and metallic frocks are so eye catching, truly confident gals should go this route. Everything else in your ensemble — shoes, jewelry, outerwear — should be kept simple because although you want to attract attention, you don't want to overdo it. That said, you don't have to be boring. I'd suggest a red-patent shoe and unique stud earrings. You're on your way to a happy and shiny New Year!
Did I miss something? Since when is actress Emmy Rossum also a singer? Okay, I'll stop delving into Buzz's world and stick to fashion. Singer or not, Emmy's cobalt blue and black Jay Godfrey dress is darling. True, we've seen the babydoll style all year, but the color combo and light pleating keep it fresh. It's nice to see her in something age appropriate as she usually tends to look matronly on the red carpet.
