Give your go-to leather jacket a rest! This season, it's all about new leather pieces, like skirts, dresses, and tops! Derek Lam and Celine showed these leather looks on the Fall 2010 runways. Today, we're going to show you three great ways to wear this trend!
Leather tops have become a hot ticket item this season thanks to Phoebe Philo at Celine, Jenni Kayne, Derek Lam, and Jason Wu. Try the look out with neutral hues and bold accessories for a minimal vibe, or take it up a notch with leather leggings and moto boots. Either way, our slick picks — ranging from a faux leather wrap vest to a simple caramel-hued tee — from Maje, MM Couture, and Urban Outfitters — will help you get there.
Left to right: MM Couture by Miss Me Faux Leather Vest ($83), Maje Ampoule Leather Top ($485), Urban Outfitters Line & Dot Leather Crop Tank ($90), Maje Wool and Leather Cardigan ($500)
I'm admittedly a little leather obsessed this season, but obviously with good reason. Behold Alice + Olivia's Juliana Velvet and Leather Dress ($440) screaming Fall flirt and city sophisticate all at once. I could rationalize the price, promising to wear it religiously till Spring, but really, it's no use. The only thing left to do is to find a worthy, less-pricey alternative.

Some people like the look of worn-in leather furniture, but I am not one of them. Soft, supple leather hits my sweet spot, and wrinkles, fading, and stains are certainly not my friends. Fortunately, your leather furniture needn't bear any signs of old age. Take my tips on caring for your leather upholstery and it'll remain as smooth as a baby's bottom!
- Heat will dry leather out, so keep your furniture at least two feet from your radiator, vent, or other heat source.
- Do not treat leather with any detergents, oils, soaps, polishes, or solvents. Only treat with a leather cleaner like Lexol or Leather Master.
- Flip your toss pillows frequently to prevent wrinkles from becoming permanent!
- Dust often. A dry microfiber cloth does a great job of reaching dust in nooks and wrinkles.
- Keep your leather furniture out of the sun to prevent fading.
- Keep paperwork, magazines, and newspapers off of your leather to prevent ink bleeding.
- If you do spill liquid on your leather, use a dry cloth to blot it immediately.
I did a double take when I saw the reduced price tag on this BB Dakota Damon Leather Jacket ($90, originally $225), so you don't have to. Spending under $100 for a genuine leather jacket, especially when it looks this good, is a major score. If you've been fiending for a leather jacket sans the tough-chick vibe, this beauty might just be it. The draped front keeps it from looking too stiff, and the contrasting detail lends gorgeous depth.
This fall, tough leather looks are given the grown-up treatment with ladylike cuts and polished silhouettes. Here we introduce you to the new season's perfect leather essentials—a slim pencil skirt from Thomas Wylde, a heart-shaped shoulder bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs, and the ubiquitous leather bomber turned into a sleek blazer and cropped jacket from Balmain and Alice by Alice Temperley, respectively.
Our leather fascination grows . . . thanks to Nicky's cool sweatshirt-slash-leather-vest jacket. If full-on leather is too much tough for you, how do you feel about leather inserts? Whether as sleeves, trim, pockets, or shoulder details, leather play is in effect. Denim and heather gray sweatshirt material are my favorite contrasts; the casual juxtaposed with the slick. Dresses and party tops also benefit from a slice of leather. Leather here, leather there, leather everywhere!
Eclipse cutie Ashley Greene made her promotional rounds in London looking a bit sweet, a whole lot badass. Her black leather jacket and mini skirt call for attention, while a lilac ruffle blouse reveals her good-girl side. Go on, strut your sexy stuff!

Leather lovahs, say hello to a leather accessories line that's sturdy in design, strong in convictions. Brave Beltworks is a Canadian brand whose products are all made in the country in safe, clean environment, ethical ways. Beyond that, their selection offers a little soft, and a whole lot of tough. For the softies, there's a dope Cork Belt Collection ($55) and Skinny Bow Belts ($60). For the toughies in the house, there's a sea of studded belts and cool-chick leather cuffs, seen below. There's even a bunch of dog collars for your tough-cookie pup. Did you hear that, Pet?
I may not be the proud owner of an iPad just yet, but I can't stop drooling over the array of beautifully designed, unique cases available for the device. Last week, the DODOcase caught my eye, and today I'm lusting over the Kenton Sorenson Leather iPad Portfolio ($140). Handmade in Wisconsin from vegetable-tanned leather, the case wraps your iPad in style. Eventually with wear, the case will age from natural leather to a golden brown. Plus, the slim design ensures your iPad will fit easily in any bag. Don't have an iPad? They have your laptop covered, too.
